NBC has a contract with Notre Dame to carry their home football games, thus NBC has a slight love affair with the Irish. They always seem to have a lot of guys in this game and get talked about quite a bit during the broadcast. Do you honestly think that Notre Dame has 14 recruits that are more deserving than some of the nation's other recruits? They really should limit the amount of kids committed to a school. I think five would be a good cutoff. With all of the early commitments, this would not be hard to achieve.

They do have the #1 class on both rivals and scout though.

Notre Dame has a huge recruiting class coming up...it would be unfair to not allow a kid to play in the game because of where he is going to play his college ball. The game is about bringing together the best possible high school kids that can play in the game, not about where you are going to play college.

It's also unfair to invite guys to the game based on where they are going to school, which is obviously what occurred this year. Some of Notre Dame's three star recruits were in this game, but I guess since one had the last name of Golic, that was okay. I realize Notre Dame's class is good, but it's not that good.

Tom Lemming is one of the main guys who puts together the game and he's a ND schill.....this is one reasy why scout.com dropped their affiliation with the game..scout wanted more say so on who played in the game because they felt it was Notre Dame slanted, Lemming didn't budge so scout backed out and rivals is now one of the main sponsors...

Im not arguing whether its slanted or not. Im arguing the concept of not allowing certain kids to play the game because there is already too many from there school. To me, that isnt fair at all to plenty of talented kids.

They might as well have called it The Notre Dame vs. itself with a few other people playing.

Look at the guys in the game now. They select about 80 kids to come play in this game and it's never the top 80 in the nation, so leaving off deserving players is a long standing practice. Sometimes a school may have three or four commits in this game that aren't even their top recruits. Since it's apparent that this game is not for the best 80 recruits, why not balance things out a little more? The situation you're speaking of would not be an issue very often. Guys also change their commitment, commit after they're selected, or come into the game uncommitted, so there doesn't have to be a set limit. Five would just be a good number to keep in mind when you're inviting so many that have already committed.

If this thing remains a Notre Dame Preview, the Under Armour game might overtake it in popularity and steal away even more of the top recruits, especially if they start holding the game at the Citrus Bowl or UCF's stadium. Disney's Wide World of Sports is a good venue for the practices and competitions, but not for the game. A high school all-star game shouldn't be held on the same field as the Pop Warner Championship game. It would be interesting to see how much the UA game dipped into the Army AA ratings, considering the overlap in the games.
