I've been out of the loop, but it wouldn't surprise me if it is. Muschamp's one of the best young defensive minds, and that Auburn/UT pipeline is alive and well.

if it is, i'm more concerned with keeping him here for more than two years

i really liked gene chizik too; why can't you be good and still keep your assistants?

:(

of course, the same would be cried about in auburn, who we've gotten good at stealing from.......:evillol:

Where did Akina go? Good assistants are hard to keep because they all want to be head coaches.

Akina hasn't been fired. The only resignation UT has had is Larry MacDuff.

The Muschamp deal isn't a done deal yet and no numbers have even been throw out. I'd edit this post if I were you.

However, it doesn't meant it won't happen soon...just that no links out there confirm this.

Heard on 610 (sports radio station in Houston) this morning that he interviewed for the UT position yesterday. No official announcement yet.

Maybe. Or maybe Akina is soon to be fired.

Just got an email from statesman.com saying he has been hired. He will be the defensive coordinator and Akina will coach defensive backs and be an assistant head coach.

It's all good. You keep taking them, we'll keep producing them. ;)

Tubbs is a defensive genius in his own right (maybe the best defensive mind in the nation) and, more importantly, knows how to communicate his knowledge as well as anyone. He's great at taking what his coordinators already know and adding to it instead of taking over, but the Horns made a great hire and should see the fruits of that hire immediately.
