Dallas Cowboys safety Roy Williams added to Pro Bowl

11:35 AM CST on Thursday, January 3, 2008
From Staff Reports

Dallas Cowboys strong safety Roy Williams has been added to the NFC roster for the Pro Bowl.

Williams takes the place of the late Sean Taylor, who was voted in as the starter and was the leading vote-getter at the position among fans, coaches and players. The Cowboys' Ken Hamlin, who was originally named as a reserve, will start in place of Taylor.

Williams will make his fifth consecutive appearance in Hawaii. He received the fourth-most votes at safety behind Taylor, starting strong safety Darren Sharper of the Minnesota Vikings and Hamlin.

Hamlin is making his first Pro Bowl appearance.

The Pro Bowl will be played Feb. 10 in Honolulu.

Is the other Roy Williams going to the Pro Bowl?

No. The real Roy Williams wasn't selected. If Fitzgerald, Holt,
Owens, or Driver bail out, he might be named as a replacement.

I thought the boys Roy Williams had a very disappointing season. Several times it looked like he just flat out got lost while in coverage and let someone get wide open.

The only thing he does well is horse-collar tackle opponents. He
refined this art by having to chase down the guys he was
supposed to be covering and making up for taking bad angles
at RB's.

Well he is a big hitter, but yeah, when he's trying to chase down guys he doesn't really have much of a chance to put a lick on someone.

wow...I didn't realize all of that...he's been a great pickup by the Cowboys.

Looking back at this draft, it's pretty impressive when you look at the number of first round picks that actually panned out quite nicely.
