What makes the college game so long?

Pats/Giants and Aggies/Penn State kicked off at the same time.

NFL game is over with 10:45 left in the college game.

I was wondering the same thing myself. At least I'm not having to flip between channels anymore. :D

Halftimes are twice as long. Plus, in college after each 1st down, the clock stops. It won't start until the ball is snapped. NFL,after 1st down, the clock starts once the chains are set.

also, NFL restarts the clokc after a runner has gone out of bounds when they get ball spotted for the next play In college clock does not start till snap

In the NFL, the clock doesn't stop after 1st downs.

After a timeout, the clock doesn't start until the ball is snapped. Maybe that's what you're thinking of.

Another reason is probably pass completion rates. NCAA QBs throw a lot of inc passes, I suspect significantly more than NFL.

Yeah Brady was 32 or 42. Not many incomplete passes. Halftime, commercials after every change of possesion, after every KP, Punt, COP, clock stopage on outta bounds runs. It all adds up. Plus colleges throw it more now. Its the reason FB's and TE's and few and far between anymore.
