Football season may be over, but the athletics scene is far from done!

We still have girls and boys basketball, softball and baseball, track and field, soccer, tennis, golf, swimming and diving, and wrestling ahead of us!

Who are the teams we need to look out for? What individual players do we need to keep an eye on? What coaching milestones or player records are in reach?

Congratulations to the state champions already crowned!

Cross Country:
Team Girls - Humble Kingwood Park
Individual Girls - Bailey Belvis, Prosper

Team Boys - Argyle
Individual Boys - Blake Woolums, Argyle

Volleyball:
Wimberley

Football:
Division 1 - Liberty Hill
Division 2 - Celina

Wylie tennis...the talent isn't near as good as it used to be...but 3A tennis has fallen so far off the talent map that Wylie will be the favorite to win state again this year.

Looking (hoping :))for good things in baseball in Gobblerland this year.. Coach will be here for his 2nd season and he's got a state championship under his belt (Thorndale 2006) Not sure how softball will fare this spring - lost alot to graduation and we'll have a new coach but the girls seem to respond to her nicely. Fingers and toes crossed. Golf might be a challege - graduated 4 of the 5 players (4 straight trips to the state tourney) but we'll just have to see how that goes. Track - should be strong again

Tennis: Sinton returns a junior or senior that made it to State last year. Hopefully, she does well again and makes the trip back out to Austin.

Track: Girls look strong were hoping to get the district crown back last year, but ran (heehee) into some discplinary issues ( ). Expect good things & better behavior this year! (fingers crossed!) Boys - not real sure what they return, but I think they will rely on some youngsters.

Golf: No clue

Softball: New coach, 3 seniors with all 4 years varsity experience to anchor a good group of juniors, sophs & possibly some freshman girls. Have the talent, will travel. :D How far depends on how well the girls respond to the new coach.

Baseball: Same place, better result! See you there!!

Track-- Port Isabel is the defending 32-AAA boys and girls champions and both should repeat. Nolan Nunez should be one of Region IV's top sprinters.

Baseball--only 2 seniors lost from a Bi-District champion

Golf--- All 5 return from a Boys team that was 10th at Regionals

Softball & Tennis---no clue

Baseball-We usually post a somewhat descent threat in baseball year in and year out.

Softball-All but 2 players return from a team that finished 29-6 and made it to the State Tournament before losing in the Semi's to Burkburnett. The team last year was mainly sophomores and freshmen. We have a lot of girls who play ball year round.

Track-Blaine Bassler returns for hopes of another state title in pole vault. We also have a sprinter who hopes to do well on the boys side.

sinton softball:should bring home district again but the playoffs depend on how they respond to their new coach but only time will tell....cant wait though:clap:

sinton baseball: the name itself explains it bring pretty much everyone back from a state qualifying team.

sinton girls track: looks strong once again didnt lose to much from last year but they always run into west oso which has speed to spare

sinton boys track: been kind of weak the last few years but there is always hope but not expecting to much...though they have an athlete in trent hesseltine looking to go back to Austin in high jump

Basketball-Should go past second round this year with both as long as guys get it together.

Baseball-Should have a really good team, look for atleast two if not three or more rounds deep

Softball-......not too sure, its iffy

soccer-guys should have a good team, Juan Herrera is a name that might be thrown around if we play well in a ridiculous 4a district.

Track-Girls-Katie Miller looking to make her fourth and final appearance at the state track meet, and get her eighth and ninth medals. Boys-Franklin Brown narrowly missed state in the 200 last year, look for him to make it this time around, and look for Bandera to have a solid team performance and a 4x400 relay in the 3:20 area. Cole Hicks also another name, open 400.
