Once Thanksgiving gets here the box office has the tradition of releasing great Christmas Movies that's my favorite part of the year during the football season and 2007 is no different then the other years past. But it seemed they released more films than any other year. And most film companies start filming in November-January the year before it is set be released in time for the holidays, Some of my favorites are

National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation (1989)
The Grench (2000)
The Santa Claus 1-3 (1994, 2002, 2006)
Jingle All The Way (1996)
Christmas With The Kranks (2004)
This Christmas (2007)
The Perfect Holiday (2007)
The Nativity Story (2006)
Deck The Halls (2006)
Black X-Mas (2006)
Saving Christmas (2004)

The perfect time to watch any of these films if you got any favorites post em, Merry Christmas and have a safe trip going and coming to your loved ones. Remember for this is the day our Savior Jesus Christ was born

A Charlie Brown Chirstmas is the greatest. My brother is a youth pastor and every year he lets me show A Charlie Brown Christmas to his group and then I give a lesson using the same text that Linus uses in his great monologue

Surely I'm not the only one who loves A Muppet Christmas Carol. ;)

In addition to that, my faves have all been mentioned--in no particular order, A Christmas Story, Christmas Vacation, Scrooged, and It's a Wonderful Life.

Oh, I don't think anyone mentioned these two: Miracle on 34th Street (the original, of course), and Elf. Will Farrell is perfect in that role--he's so earnest and genuine, you believe he really was raised on the North Pole.

This one isn't a tradition but it is a good one that I discovered by accident on Christmas Day on the Encore Western Channel. It was the 1949 Gene Autry movie called The Cowboy and the Indians. It is an unusual western especially for the Gene Autry types. There is no funny sidekick in this one. It deals with a crocked Indian agenta and his henchmen who are cheating the Indians. Of course Gene comes to the rescue. Two members of the cast who were to make it big in television in the Lone Ranger tv series were Clayton Moore who plays a one of the bad guy henchman and Jay Silverheels who plays Lakoma. Silverheels speaks perfect English unlike his Tonto role. The ending takes place at Chrismas time as Gene sings a couple of Christmas songs including Here Comes Santa Claus. This movie will probably be shown again soon on Encore Westerns because they are good about giving us second chances. Don't miss this one!
