New Jersey has 20 state high school football champions.

Do they have that many schools? New Jersey isn't that big of a state.

NJ is densely populated but stil only a third the size of Texas in terms of total population

each one of those champions is in essence only a regional champion, and they don't have a huge number of teams per region

It cracks me up that Washington has a school called Lewis and Clark.

Why? It was named after the early explorers Meriweather Lewis and William Clark who discovered and mapped the entire North West.

I thought everyone knew that.
