Gilbert had 360 yds. passing Sat. & 3 TDs in win...

"He set a state record for pass yardage in a season — but just barely. He has 4,826 yards this season, one more yard than Ennis' Graham Harrell's record, established in 2003." --AAS

Does anyone know if LT's Ryan Erxleben is any relation to former Texas Longhorns kicker Russell Erxleben?

heard he is strongly considering texas tech too. would be interesting considering he broke harrells record in high school, already wears the exact uniform, and would arrive in lubbock as soon as harrell leaves. interesting:thinking:

Yes, that is his son. Russell lives in Lake Travis now after putting his legal problems behind him (IRS, etc.). Russell Erxleben at Texas & Tony Franklin at A&M were two of the all-time best in the SWC days (both played in the NFL too) & fun to watch. I usually would not say that about kickers! Both made 60+ yd. FGs & set records. Remember platforms were allowed then too on FGs.

Texas is early leader from what I have read, but A&M/Tech/& many out of state schools are in there too. His dad Gale Gilbert (also qb) played at Cal & then in the pros. Parents are not native Texans, at least father isn't. Way too early to tell yet as he will be a national recruit for 2009. He just got picked for the prestigious Elite 11 Camp this summer too. He will have plenty of choices coast to coast.
