View Full Version : Anyone notice UIL director Breithaupt's comments?

During 5A Katy-Pflugerville game, UIL director stated that this year's realignment will cause some controversy. About 20 brand new schools will be added to 5A which will cause a trickle down effect. Remember, they start at 5A and work down. The most interesting thing I caught was that he specifically mentioned West Texas and the "travel burden" that some teams will have.

Very interesting statements made during the game.

Think Abilene Cooper falling down to 4A...they'll either be travelling to Big Spring/Lubbock (likely) or to Wichita/Denton...

its time for one high school in Abilene.

The Cooper to 4a Scenario would help San Angleo Central out though.

LOL..They have no idea what Travel Problems are:)

Try 4 hour plane rides, or 790 mile road trips just to play a game.

Thats our normal at home.

Each team needs 200,000 a year up front just to cover travel. for the regular season, and the school doesn't supply it...They sometimes assist if they make the playoffs which is extra.

He meant 3A btw. There will be some travel for the 3A schools in the waet. There will be no one team district and ALL districts will be 6 or 8 schools. That was what he was talking about.

if aisd decideds to actually play wylie in something agin. after wylie swept them in everything they played them in last year it seems like they got a lil scared.

but that would be crazy, cooper would be in town rivals with wylie and ahigh, while wylie and a high could care less about each other.
