Brownwood, Barbers Hill, Burnet?, Stephenville?

the landscape could be changing quickly in 3A, especially if the next alignment goes to 1050 or so

could anyone imagine how good stephenville could be in 3A?

their fans are crazy!

I think Stephenville and Brownwood will both be dominant in 3A. Burnet has done it before, so they won't surprise me if they drop back down and become a power once again. This could make for some very interesting matchups though.

anybody not realizing that LaMarque (again) is supposedly under 1000 in enrollment and could be a 3A as well... good luck if that is true... it is a rumor and has been for a few years but...

One very good team that might move down to 3A is El Campo. They have a great program and would be a power house in 3A

themsu97
12-20-2007, 12:48 PM
again, not saying that it is true because it is LaMarque and you never really know what is going on there... for about the last 8 years the rumor has been that there #'s are getting smaller and that they are close to the cutoff, and if they are below then they would obviously be a 3A...

again, it is all a rumor but several schools have been rumored to go one way or the other and eventually it comes true...

They'll probably have the same thought of Liberty Hill! ;)

If La Marque drops the road to the 3A title gets a little bit harder.

And unlike Jasper, WOS, etc... they've actually won something recently!

It would be fun having them in 3A!

With the teams that could drop, our district could be Liberty Hill, Burnet, Wimberley, Llano, Fredericksburg, and one other. How bad would Llano hate that district?

IF Liberty Hill goes back into Region IV you sould see Brownwood, Stephenville, Burnet, Liberty Hill, Llano and maybe even Gatesville. That would be the one of the toughest districts.

Remember guys, you can only play 11 players and football is a team sport. I think Liberty Hill played teams with more athletes in several playoff games this year but they sure made them look weak. Could Brownwood stop the slot-T, could Sville stop the slot-T? Who knows, but remember Liberty Hill sure stopped the spread.

I look for several rumors of big suprises but when it comes out there will be districts formed that make you go, "What were they thinking." (see Lexington 2006-2008)

Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night............

again, LaMarque could very well stay 4A, nobody ever really knows their #'s... but around here the word is that they have somewhere near 1000, not sure which side of that they are on... and it is rumor and hearsay, but I know that this has been going on for years and sooner or later there is some truth to the rumors...
I would be shocked but not surprised... but if the cut off # is that high, you never know...

but I would be willing to put money that they stay 4A, they might even petition to stay there if they are close enough... but at one time they were a 5A and the enrollment has been steadily dropping...

i remember when WOS, Jasper and Everman moved down over the years

La Marque is in a separate league

whatever their problems, they would make a HUGE impact in 3A if they moved down

probably similar to what Alto is doing in 1A.

They would make a bigger impact than any of the teams listed above

Before this past year i think LM had 12 straight years at least reaching the quarter finals. If LM does drop all 3a schools that have never seen them play are in for a surprise, they are not just another WOS or Jasper.

Panther One,
going to the "media guy/sources" card for a second..

I heard UIL will NOT put Wimberley and L-Hill in the same district.

That said, I'm thinking the '07 D-I champs will remain paired with Rockdale/Taylor and the gang (without Hutto, which should be moving up to 4A)...adding Burnet, possibly Llano & Fredericksburg...

Brownwood moving down could be like Copperas Cove moving down in 4A. 2 straight losses (unfortunatly) in the title. Allto in calss A is also like that but they won 2 straight. This is not good news for the larger 3A schools.

Not so quick my friend. If some of those land in the same districts, or in any districts with other large schools, remember only 1 will go DI. It's quiet possible to have a larger school win the DII title than wins the DI title. No doubt there will be several large schools in the DII bracket come playoff time, and many of those could be larger than some in the DI bracket. I havent done the research, but I'll bet there are several examples of that this year, in all classifications.

true in the past, but this year, LM lost to Lumberton. In Lumberton's FIRST TRIP EVER to the playoffs. That truly might qualify for a down year for LM.

But yes, LM is annually loaded with so much talent it generally does not matter much who their coach is. Or so I have heard. ;)

Burnet's placement into that district hinges on Canyon Lake..the new Comal ISD school which is supposed to be placed in 3A...I could see a district with them and the schools you mention minus Burnet...and Burnet going east with LH..Taylor etc....but I spoke with a fellow from Wimberley and he said he wouldn't be suprised to see a district with Wim, CL, Luling Marion and LaVernia and possibly Navarro depending on the numbers.
