Congrats to all the boys! Pretty good for a 'rebuilding year'

Cuero High School's Gobblers earned 21 spots on the 29-3A All District roster with another four receiving honorable mention honors.

Offensive MVP All District award went to Palacios senior Henry Solis. The All District Defensive MVP went to Aaron Buckley of Palacios.


Taking the district's Most Valuable Player title was tailback and defensive back Quincey Whittington. The senior was a unanimous choice for the honor.

All District offense first team choices from Cuero included quarterback Tyler Arndt, Newcomer of the Year. The sophomore was also a unanimous choice.

Senior running back Stefon Hargrove was a unanimous choice while junior wide receiver Robert Armstrong was a unanimous selection. Senior tight end Kaeron Johnson was also a unanimous pick.

Offensive linemen junior Klayton Smith and senior Patrick Nami were unanimous choices and senior place kicker Jonathan Perez was a first team choice.

All District defense first team selections included Gobbler senior Josh Hernandez at linebacker. Defensive linemen included Cuero seniors Kaeron Johnson, unanimous choice, and Stefon Hargrove.

Defensive secondary first team selections from Cuero included senior David Williams, unanimous, and junior Robert Armstrong.

All District Second Team Offense included junior full back Jake Rangnow and senior running back David Williams.

Second Team offensive linemen included juniors Kolton Smith and Dustin Blinka.

Defensive All District Second Team selections from Cuero were junior linebackers Jake Rangnow and Troy Ruiz. Linemen included junior Klayton Smith and senior Patrick Nami.

Honorable Mention All District recognition went to seniors Blake Phillips, Tyler McKinley and Jeffery Zapata and juniors James Olsovsky and Jennings Boothe.

For other schools in District 29-3A, Gonzales placed four offensive and three defensive players on first team with four offensive and four defensive players on second team.

Palacios had three offensive and three defensive first team selections with two offensive and four defensive second team selections.

Yoakum placed one offensive and four defensive men on first team with four offensive and two defensive on second team.

Goliad had one on offense and two on defense first team with two offense and three defense on second team.
