thats a good one. poor sr. leadership tends to do that. won't happen next year. like i said sit back and watch kipper. by the way, Sinton has a strong chance of contendin for a state title in baseball this year. AGAIN!!!

I really hope so can't wait to get my season tickets already, despite our worest season since 1997. Sinton has what it takes to be successful once again, not to mention alot of players coming back from a young team. Should already be able to control the ball more and start scoring more touchdowns. I think the Pirates are like a volcano dorment and ready to explode at any time:) Go Pirates!!! But for now we need to focus on getting another State Title in baseball it'll be sweet to get a 4th title and celebrate with our 20th anniversy title at the same time:clap:

You don't go from being 1-9 one season to becoming great the next. Many of the same kids will return from last years team. I think Sinton should hope for a 5-5 season and maybe sneak into the playoffs somehow.

No need to apologize. Living in Sinton is :hairpunk:!!! BTW did the Ingleside HC finally move to Ingleside?

As for Sinton's chances in the playoffs. I'll wait and see how they do in their first scrimmage next year before I make any predictions.

Ok, just going to say this once (dont get mad P4S) but, Sinton has lost a lot of enrollment...not as many athletes to go around...specialization in Sinton may be what is hurting your football team as well...Everybody needs to be playing everything for all sports to be successful. Hope the community is able to get some of the problems fixed that a lot of the young people are having there right now

Sinton getting into the playoffs would have been a bold statement 20 years ago when only the top finisher qualified. But with half the district getting into the playoffs these days, not so much. Although, good luck with the 3 round thing!

Really? According to Collier-Sharp:

Sinton (29 playoff appearances) 1932,42,45,50,55,56,59,60,62,63,64,82,83,85,86,87, 90,91,92,96,
98,99,2000,01,02,03,04,05,06

It wasn't exactly unheard of.

Okay, I'm sorry, but you missed my point. My point was that with half the district teams getting into the playoffs, your chances of getting in about 50%. Pretty good odds I'd say, therefore, the statement about Sinton getting into the playoffs was not exactly going out on a limb. It was not a slam against Sinton and its playoff history. But the 3rd round thing...

sinton66
12-20-2007, 03:20 PM
Okay, but let's look at those 29 appearances. 10 of those went at least 13 games during their respective seasons. So, 3rd round for Sinton isn't exactly unheard of either. Remains to be seen if they will do it next year or not, but it won't be a fluke if they do.;)

Don't take this wrong, I wasn't offended, just giving you some facts to work with.

There was also an 18 year drought from '64-'82. This could be the start of a run like that. It would be tough with the new playoff system but you never know. I know three rounds is a little ambitious. You need to hope that they find a way to get into the playoffs. The new coach still has to prove that he can lead them there.

sinton66
12-20-2007, 04:38 PM
Well, sinfan75 has his own opinions, we're just hoping he's right.
And, personally, I think that as long as Allen doesn't turn out to be another Sam Harper( and I don't see how he could), Sinton will be fine.

pirate4state
12-20-2007, 04:42 PM
I agree that three rounds is a little ambitious with a new coach & system. Some folks tend to get ahead of themselves.

Hopefully next year whoever makes it to the playoffs in our district can get past the first round!

Anything can happen in High school football. In 1992 Cuero went 4-6 with a new system and New Coach ( Mickey Finley). 1993 12-3-1 and made the State Finals. So it can happen.;)

back in them days (64-82) Sinton was stuck in the same district with Gregory-Portland or most of em anyway. Sinton had a few teams that were very, very good in that period. unfortunitely G-P always prevailed in head to head meetings. But ever since the move to 2 play-off teams in the early 80's Sinton has consistently been in the play-offs and most of the time as the district champ. Now if the next reallignment sends the 29-3a teams to 28 or 27-3a then the 3 play-off games come into play for Sinton as the would not have to contend with Cuero or Gonzales until the 3rd or 4th round. Not sayin they'd automatically go 3 rounds deep. just gives em a better chance.

Besides that, I didn't get back down here until '84. They had to start winning again just to keep me happy.:D

Yep, and likewise, in 1989 Sinton went 4-6 with a new coach (Gary Davenport) and new system and then went to the semifinals in 1990.

the first two games of the year for the pirates offense was bad, but the offense picked it up starting against Beeville in being able to move the ball down the field just couldnt finish drives. Now the defense was bad in stopping the opposition, particulary the defensive line. The defense will have to make a complete 360 from where they were last year for the team to be a serious playoff team again. The offense will be good next year and look for them to be like the Pirates we are use to seeing.

Heh, I didn't say they'd be solid enough to get past District 29. ;) They're just solid enough in 30-3A.

30-3A's talent level has grown to respectability...says alot considering the region. it was nice to see sinton rolling everyone in the district, but now games are going to be fun to watch. i might be returning to corpus christi in january, so hopefully ill get a chance to join everyone in a meet and greet at a game where we can watch a good young sinton team! being a lamar consolidated fan, i am well aware that it only takes a few diamond in the roughs to change a losing culture into a winning culture. it was only 5 yrs ago when lamar consolidated didnt win a game in the 2003 season. they then won 2 games in 2004, 11 games in 2005, 13 wins in 2006, and a state title in 2007. it doesnt take long to turn things around. another example is port lavaca calhoun.
