Wylie gets 15 on THSCA academic all-state team
Monday, December 17, 2007
The Texas High School Coaches Association Class 3A academic all-state teams were released this week, and Wylie had a state-high 15 student-athletes honored.
The teams were selected by a point system that awards points for GPA, class rank and SAT or ACT score. The student-athletes were then placed on teams according to the number of points they have earned.
Wylie had five players named to the first team, eight listed as second-teamers and two players who received honorable mention consideration.
The Bulldogs' first team selections were Clay Burson, Brian Connolly, Randall Fowler, Matt Meriwether and Tyler Rainey.
The second-team selections were Austin Amdal, John Laurence, Taylor Massey, Travis Mauldin, Cole Rainey, Clay Reedy, Abe Templeton and Addison Templeton.
Chris Rodriguez and Cameron Rogers received honorable mention honors.
The Bulldogs' 15 selections were six more than the next closest school, Bridgeport, and their five first-team selections more than doubled the maximum of two that other teams placed on the list.
