View Full Version : Why Isn't The Wide 7 Defense Used More?

I know the Wide 7 is the defense widely relied upon to stop the Wing T, but why isn't it used more often against other offenses? It applies pressure exactly where it needs to be applied, and severely limits the effectiveness of pulling Guards.

Anyone have any thoughts?

Gilmer ran the 6-3-2 (nine in the box) all game against Liberty Hill and hardly slowed them down. Last year Celina ran a lot of 9-2 which works about 3 out of 4 plays, but on that fourth play, it's a foot-race to the endzone.
