Cold hard fact on which is the toughtest district...

Many people have been posting topics and announcing that their district has to be the hardest district in the state because it has one or two good teams in it. This may make it difficult to win district, but, overall, it may mean that those one or two teams have little or no competition from the remaining district teams. To avoid any confusion, I'd like to explain this list. I compiled this list from information on the "Data Poll." I took the rankings from each team in each individual district and averaged them. I then sorted the results from the lowest number to the higest number resulting in a list of the districts containing the best teams to those containing the worst teams.

That is a bunch of silly statistics, 21-3A has two teams still in contention for the State Title BOTH Bridge City AND Newton- that my friend, are the only Statistics that counts! How can the other teams have much of a rating in "Brian's Data Poll" Orangefield and the others in 21-3A also try to open against some 4A teams to try to beef up for Bridge City and Newton. I have talked to Brian and told him that he needs to factor a higher number into his equation for playing good Div I size 4A's so his Regional Champs arn't unlisted "almost" on Data Poll. Champion the teams that play the hard 4A schedules in preseason instead of the weak sisters in 3A.

good point, Old Cardinal. Statistics can be made to reflect anything you want it to. By the way, who do ya'll play next week? Bridge City and Newton to State! Newton did win, no matter what the uil is posting.

The UIL has finally changed it to read Newton as the winner. They must have got the score from the Dallas Morning News. The DMN is notorius for bad reporting. Good luck to Newton and BC next week.

Joe, Sinton beat Bellville by one TD so we get to play Sinton.......We have made friends with Sinton folks via internet and all of us are excited about getting to play each other in a friendly rivalry! We represent Reg III and Reg IV together WOW that's half the STATE in Division one. That's hard to believe after that 4th Quarter against Newton. Joe there is some terrible profanity being exchanged between some Newton and China Springs Kids. Please find it under Scores or something. Please get everyone form Newton including 3A Roy and his quality friends to respond to this stuff. Newton does not need a bad name because of a few immature kids.

Old Card I havent seen anybody from China Springs say anything. The score was reported wrong but nobody has said anything negative to Newtonthug or papasmurf. I dont understand what brought it on. A serious lacking of maturity I suppose.

Old Cardinal and Eye of The Tiger, I have already posted a reply on that page. 99.9% of Newton will be embarresed by this. We are not all that way.

Joe I think everybody knows those two are not representative of the Newton team and the fans. With a team as good as Newtons not much realy needs to be said. It has all been said out on the field very successfully. Good luck next week.

Sorry Eye of the Tiger- The young lady from China Springs was just relaying invalid scores and I took it she was just starting trouble, my apologies to both you and to her. Yes, Newton has some high-quality young people, I am sorry that a few are trying hard to give their community a bad name.

The fact remains, that if you do the same thing to all districts, and do not adulterate the data, a clear result will come of it. I posted that list as an unbiased list determined by mathematical values which cannot form their own opinions as humans often can. Don't bash me, please. I was just tired of everyon claiming that their district was the best or the hardest. Maybe you just didn't understand my explanation of what the list actually represented. I dunno.....

I believe Dist. 30 is better than 19th. That Dist. should be ranked in the top 10. They've produced a semifinalist for state something like 3 of the past 5 or 6 last years? What makes that stand out is all the teams were different(Aransas Pass, Mathis and Sinton). Of course some of the teams now in the district were in others, but they all are within close to thirty miles from another. I believe that dist. ranking was based on comparitive scoring to an extent, and straight math can't judge team's desire, heart and many other factors.
