Marlin Bullldogs
School Colors: Purple Gold and White
Last Year: 7-5 bi-district champs
Returning Starters: 9 offense 9 defense
Key Players: QB Thad Freeman, DB Red Richardson, OT-K LaKendrick Washington
Matthew328's outlook: Marlin much like Gatesville was expected to have a down year in 2001 and by Marlin's standards it was a down year..but after a 1-4 start and many critics including myself wrote them off Marlin rebounded to win 6 in a row and advance to Rd 2 of the playoffs...this year with 18 starters back and losing only 4 players total Marlin is primed for a big 2002...if Marlin can survive a TOUGH non-district schedule that includes Class 4A schools Waco Univeristy and Waco Midway along with 2A rival Mart and Burnet....that would be tough enough but throw in Ennis 4A state champ and Marlin may be lucky to go 3-2...Freeman leads the offense last year he was the Dawgs main offensive threat, for Marlin to be a team to challenge in the region they will need to find another consistent offensive weapon..Richardson leads the defense...with 7 INT's last season..Washington not only starts on the offensive line but is the placekicker as well..
