idk, that is an interesting question.

they might hang but depth and the size of the line might get them in the end.

here is an example. Albany was in the top 10 of 1a before they got beat by Windthorst in the playoffs and they played #1 in 2a Cisco and got rocked by like 50 points.

So I dont think they could win

Most, if not all 11 starters on 1A teams go both ways. On 3A teams, that's not always the case. I'm thinking the endurance factor would come into play for the 1A team and that would be the reason they come up short.

I think it depends on the particular teams in a particular year. There are up years and down years for every classification, and I honestly don't know what the top 1A schools look like this year. But I do know that the Shiner Comanches a few years back might've won a couple of 3A districts.

Like I said, it all depends on the team and who they're playing.

I don't know about an average team, but they can definitely beat a less than average 3A team pretty handily...

Alto could be competitive in 3a just because they have the athletes.

Stepping up one classification is doable (3A/4A) but two would be tough because of depth issues, especially in the lower classifications. Some of the really good Sealy state championship teams during the early 90s scrimmaged some bad 5As and basically played them even but nobody on those teams went both ways. When you get to a situation where all or most kids play both sides of the ball on one team but not the other, it will make a big difference inthe end. Same goes for 3A/3A matchups where one team plays a lot of kids both ways.

Big Sandy back in the 70s could have almost beaten anybody in any classification. That was the David Overstreet/Lovie Smith teams.

I know bremond could be many 3a teams
They nearly beat Lexington and they are an excellent 2A team

No hard feelings here to any smaller schools, but in my OPINION; in the few 1A or 2A games I have been to, some of which were ranked teams, the games seemed to play in almost slow motion.

With that being said, I don't see MUCH difference in speed of play btwn 3a and 4a, but top level 5a is much faster than 3a and 4a.

I know there small schools out there with a few speedsters that are as fast as any, but all in all, the play at those levels seem slow TO ME!

First off, nearly isn't beating them, and if this was this year, lexington wasn't overly impressive this year. I don't think that comparing 2a to 3a is comparable either. SLOWER PLAY IN GERERAL.
