I looked at the record and from 1972 to 1974 Michigan had 10-1, 10-01, and 10-1 seasons and didn't get to participate in a bowl game. The tie and two losses were to Ohio State. They lost twice to Ohio State by a total of 5 points for both losses. Their overall record those three years were 30-2-1. I don't think any other team that did that failed to get invited to a bowl. The Michigan Coach was very bitter about it and blamed the Big 10 Rulemakers and his own Athletic Director. This is a disgrace but not too surprising because it is a Big 10 College President who is instrumental in keeping us from having a real playoff in Division 1 football.
