WOW!!! For that much money...I would take him to court and live with the bad press. As long as you replaced him soon with Sherman...the court stuff would stay out of the papers for the most part.

That's a lot of money for a guy that broke numerous rules.

Hey he earned that money! I say that and I am a UT fan.

After all he did beat UT the last two years. A&M got off cheap. They couldl also have given him a solid gold cadallic and they would only be giving him what he deserves.

And don't forget the great athletic facilities he has helped build there at A&M not just for football but for all men and women's athletics.

Fran did not build a single thing - he gave $1 million over 10 years (tax write-off), so don't count on seeing that either. Bill Byrne & others got those fine facilities built. And the debt that has ensued too.

On Fran's buyout, remember that it is for $4.4 million overall.

But, if he accepts another coaching job (college or pro) or a broadcasting tv job, the $$ from A&M goes way down.

A&M covered their bases & just wanted to move forward on this & avoid negative press. It could end up being considerably less too.

Beating Texas is NOT all that matters. If it were, Fran would still have a job since he has won 2 in a row over the Horns.

I would have taken this to court. He broke his contract & NCAA rules thru the VIP mess. But A&M paid him to go away & move forward.

And he still did NOT build any facilities either. Others did.

Yes it is. Only reason Fran was fired was because he violated numerous NCAA rules. If those rules weren't violated he would still be there. Hell he probably would have gotten an extension.

You could NOT be more wrong. A&M is striving higher than just beating a 9-3 Texas team. In the old days, that was true.

Not anymore hoss. And, deal with Fran went back over a month. His overall record at A&M (32-28), record vs. ranked teams, record in Big 12, etc. got him fired (forced to resign).

Wrong Blue, but used to it.
