This isn't an original thought by me. It was a question asked on
Mike & Mike this morning.

What would you rather your team do?

1. Stink up the joint for four or five years , then win or play for a
championship.

2. Continually be competitive over a long period of time and
hardly ever play for a championship.

This question was asked regarding the Florida Marlins but could
apply to any sport. Including 3A Texas HS football.

I will go with #1

makes for drama and support...

I'd go with #1 also. No question. The entire purpose of competing at any level is to win a championship, and if that means I have to build my program from the ground up and take it through a couple of 2 or 3-win seasons to do it, then so be it.

#2......hardly ever playing for a champoionship means you still get to play for one and youy continuelly good without stinking it up for 4-5 years

I go with #1 if you say WILL win, not win or play in.

#2 though. I would much rather have Forney 2000-2003, then Forney 2003-now lol.

#2 and #1 combination is Wylie's, but if I had to pick one I'd pick #2.

West never has to play for a championship, and tradition is not on our side, so I guess we'll just continue to stink it up. If realignment comes around and we're put back in the district with LV, China, Connally, Robinson, etc., we can hang it up because it will be all over before it ever gets started.

I prefer number 3. Continually being good and playing for the title.....:D

I'd like to see Needville go deep in the playoffs next year in football. The champ. would just be an added plus.

I'd say #2 for the sake of more kids getting to taste some success year after year, as opposed to lots of kids having a fair experience, then one year a few getting to smell the roses. I think that is better for the long term success of a program.IMO

#2 because building a winning program will eventually bring that title. One of those years, everything will fall in place and you will get that ring, no matter how elusive it may seem. Plus, no one ever likes to remember those 0-10 or 1-9 years.:weeping: (i.e. my senior H.S. year/first year in college)

#2. Your chances are better of making the runs needed to make it to state and hopefully win.
