I think it's Spanish for "Liberty Hill will lose to Pleasanton." But I don't know how it ties into LaVega.

But it's a bad cuss word, so watch how you throw it around. It's up there with talking mess about someone's mom and punching babies.

I sure hope Liberty Hill loses to somebody. I'm a fan of the underdog. No disrespect to you Panther faithful out there.

The only common denominator I can find involves "Captain Jack" who was the subchief of the Modoc and leader of the hostile group in the Modoc War.

Captain Jack = Pirates of the Caribbean = Waco La Vega Pirates???

Better yet, hope in one hand and defecate in the other and see which one fills up the fastest.

The Modoc comes from the mid 1980's with the arrival of coach Carlous Stone. As WOS87's playoff history shows, LaVega wenbt from 1955 to 1987 without a playoff appearance. Coach Stone used the Modoc, a Native American tribe from North California and Oregon to inspire the team. He give them a Texas connection and the players and fans bought in. For several year they were the Modoc Pirates. The 1987 team surprised everyone by not only making the playoffs, but making it to the Regional final where they lost to district rival McGregor in front of about 20,000 at Floyd Casey. It's ironic that 20 years later, they play another district rival, China Spring, at the same stadium in the same round.

That is ironic. Thanks for the explanation.

I played against that 1987 LV team, and they were awesome. 2 1,000 yard rushers in Vincent Moten and Darren Williams. I went to the LV-McGregor rematch and LV blew that one. A fumble on the 1 yard line that killed them in that game. And McGregor went on to lose in the State Title game to who? Robert Strait and the Cuero Gobblers.

The people there say "Modoc" is a land pirate. They actually put the words on some school wall paintings awhile back, but the adm. made them paint over it. So I guess it is an "unofficial" mascot for them. Word is 20,000 for the game vs. China Spring.
