Saturday, 1:00, Floyd Casey Stadium (Baylor)

District 17-3A's Champion and Runner-up meet once again for this Quarterfinal round. The meeting in District play resulted in a 42-13 La Vega win.

Thoughts on this Quarterfinal game?

I'm going with La Vega by 21 points.

I do not like playing in a big stadiums. Kids get awestruck by their surroundings and are distracted by all the hoopla. Fans get too spread out and are not as effective.

I would have to agree.

This isn't always true, but it seems like when a team faces another team in the playoffs that they defeated in the regular season, the team that loss the first time around wins the second time.

Naturally, I would favor La Vega, but I think the curse might jynx the Pirates. So, I'll go with China Spring in the upset: 20-14.

Agreed about the stadium. I like high school games to be played in smaller stadiums so they get filled up and the crowd is a factor. I hate the Alamodome for sure.

Floyd Casey though is not that bad the home team gets an awesome locker room. Its nice for those kids to get a chance to play in a big time stadium. Some will never get that chance after high school. But I understand that the kids may get caught looking in the lights and not be as focused.

Also this is a district repeat meeting as well as Cuero and Palacios, must be a few good districts out there.

I believe the previous meetings will kind of tell what will happen in both. Ill take La Vega and Cuero in the Semis but both games ought to be a bit closer but still no theat to either losing

Oh Yeah! This is easily the touhest team LV will face for the second time. I've been a part of Marlin beating Robinson, in Robinson 32-0, and Losing to Robinson in the quarterfinal 13-7!
So LV will have to be very weary of this game.

To tell the truth, I pointed it out. This time though, I think La Vega will break the curse and continue on until they are name DII state champs.

I knew that La Vega was going to beat WOS. A few people around here were saying that WOS was going to win but I knew what was going to happen. Good job La Vega, I'm sure ya'll already know but still ya'll beat a very good team

La Vega romped on China Springs there first go around. So I will say this one will be a little closer then the first.

La Vega 10+

China had won seven straight in the series before the 42-13 thumping earlier this year. MODOC hadn't beaten them that badly in a decade. That game kinda let me know just how good LaVega was going to be this season. I'm sure China will be pretty fired up at this chance to get some revenge. I'll stick with the boys from Bellmead though to beat them for the 2nd time this year.

It's a simple offense...They line up and play power football. You know exactly what's coming, but it's darn near impossible to stop when they get rolling.

They'll run that JT Sweep over and over and over and pass just enough to keep you honest. It's what they've done for the better part of the last 15 years or so under Willie Williams.

When Coach Williams has the backs that he has now along with the line they have, they're pretty hard to beat. They're really good defensively, as they usually are, and they like to shorten the game and just grind it out. I usually would rather watch a spread team, but I've always enjoyed watching LaVega. It's just fun to watch a team that hits as hard as they do on defense.

i will take la vega by 2tds. when they played us friday they showed me something. It was my first time to see them and i always heard they were a good team and now i believe it. they beat a very good team in wos and proved they are a contender. good luck against china springs and keep up the good work. although i hated to lose to la vega they deserved a hard fought win. by the way i had picked wos by two tds so if i have any crow coming i would like it served in a gumbo please. good luck.

If you knew anything at all, you wouldnt be picking CS. They are nowhere near the team La Vega is. They havent exactly played tough competition so far until now. I seriously doubt that the Pirates are going to slip up to the degree that it will take for CS to win this one.

Which wouldn't have happened had Fitzhenry been playing. Giddings would still be going right now. But I guess it doesn't matter anymore because a win is a win and a loss is a loss, regardless of the circumstances.

LV will remind China that they don't belong and beat them like dogs again the second time around. I never have liked China, and never will for that matter. People on here talk about Celina fans, well play against these jerks and you'll put their fans up there with the best of the worst. If something doesn't go their way they're gonna cry about it!:bigcry: I honestly hopes LV beats them worse this time around than the first.
