its hard to say....Glen Rose doesnt have one of those stud athletes that draws a lot of attention. THey are just good all the way across. QB is very good. Very patient and very smart.

4:00 pm Saturday at Justin Northwest. Home, unknown, but would think we would be as Celina would be traveling there if they were.

After watching the game today, Pitt seemed to be tougher than either GR or PG.

GR just got by Prosper 12-6 and Celina murdered Prosper 62-6

So they don't have any speed huh? That helps. I have to admit that the Wright kid was as good as or better than advertised. If those Pitt boys could play defense they would be tough.

they picked the location that quick? How does that happen? Do they decide in advance for either team winning?

Yeah if you have ever been to one of the Argyle games you are almost to Justin.

They just try to have all their bases covered so that when the time comes they dont have to spend lots of time seeing where to play. It is Sat late now. Most of the nicer stadiums have already been selected by games already played and decided. They do some leg work early "just in case" with both potential teams, and teams that may be in their future.

had PG won it was texas stadium

GR set a school record today, they had never in history got this far.

They are slow and not very big, defense is not physical, PG managed to run on them at will but then PG preferred to pass alot

their QB kept them in it when it got tough
but he is no wright either

Too bad Liberty Hill had to go Div I this year as they and Celina are clearly the two best teams in 3A this year. Celina/LaVega has the chance to be a good title game if LaVega doesn't go in letting the Celina tradition beat them. And in Div I, I believe Liberty Hill is going to maul either Abilene Wylie or Gilmer, doesn't matter with the Panthers. This not meant as a slight to any of the other teams remaining, rather a huge compliment to Liberty Hill and Celina....

I do not think they will be as tough as Pittsburg was. They will play better defense but they won't have a one man wrecking crew like Wright. That kid has a future in college ball like D1 college ball if he has the grades. Best player I have seen this year.

I agree. Wright runs a little like Adrian P.
He runs upright with good vision and sees the hole really well. He has sprinters speed and good moves. He does need to learn to lower his shoulders on impact to protect himself. We knocked him loopy a couple of times. Tough kid. Took a couple of plays off and came back out.

Well I heard that Wright was talking to OU and our d1 D'anton has made a verbal with Penn State.

Sounded like GR and PG just traded scores with GR getting to kick a FG late. PG only had one punt I think so must have had turnovers but I dont remember any in the stats. Sounds like they were both pretty balanced on O and D. With only putting up 24 on PG I'm not sure it will be pretty for their O this Saturday. Time will tell.

Kendall is not as big as AP and not as tall

He is only 5'11 and about 175

He will be IMO a return man, and WR/CB in college

If its OU that would give them Justin Johnson, Jermie Calhoun and Wright.....wow. I've seen all 3 and there is no comparison between Wright and Calhoun or Johnson. Calhoun moves like Wright and is 6'1" 215. Johnson is a Mack truck and will probably play LB in college. Sure wish these kids would stay in the state of Texas. I'm sure Wright is being looked at as a WR or for basketball. Wright is alot like former Gilmer QB/WR Manual Johnson who currently plays reciever at OU.

Celina rolls past Glen Rose with ease.

I'll take Celina in this one

In round two, when Celina silenced West(my hometown by the way), it was a lopsided victory to say the least. Little known Glen Rose is out of the same district as West, and they only beat us by 2 points, 26-24. We actually had that game in hand and blew it in the 4th quarter. So as for my opinion on this one, Celina wins big, and I mean BIG!

12-05-2007, 10:36 AM
IMO Glen Rose would have to play perfect and have Celina have 2 or 3 TOs to stay within 14 points

Thompson is a VERY good QB for GR, but they just dont have enough athleticism at key positions to have a chance.

glen rose has a stronger defense but a less explosive offense than Pittsburg

given that, Celina 40-7

It is my understanding that there was no toss. Vernon wanted to play on Saturday (they had played the previous Saturday), Ford wanted to play on Friday (all of our games had been on Friday and he prefers not to play on Saturday), Vernon said that they would play anywhere within reason as long as it was Saturday so Ford gave them Saturday and took Denton.

I was at the Celina-West game where you guys handed it to us pretty easy. In district we were up on Glen Rose from the start. They didn't take the lead until the 4th, and then had to hang on at the end, because they had to punt back to us with 6 seconds left and our guy almost took it to the house. Final was Glen Rose 26 West 24. Trust me if you're kids go out and even put forth an effort it will be over by halftime.
