View Full Version : Any complaints about Graham's facilities now Argyle/Snyder?

I was just wondering if any of the Argyle or Snyder posters had any complaints about Graham's Newton Field tonight. Was there enough seating? There was kind of a stink about this one being played in Graham because the facilities were perceived to be too small for a game of this magnitude. I'd like to know how it panned out.

I was at the game and there was PLENTY of seating left. Snyders side was pretty full, but still had plenty of seats. Argyles side was maybe 2/3 full. No problems that I saw.

Yes I have a complaint. Yes, there was enough seating....although Snyder had a pretty good showing for a 3 hour drive. The complaint is for the piece of crap score board. It didn't work for pretty much the entire 2nd half. Didn't know how much time was on the clock, and for a game like that, it was quite nerve racking. Nice field though.

The scoreboard not working for most of the 2nd half actualy added to the drama of the game. Everyone knew what the score was....but not always how much time was left! The PA announcer gave a few updates on the time left.

Those things happen and the folks from Graham did a good job in a bad situation!

snyders side was packed. we just walked over to the argyle side. i was suprised that there want anyone selling tickets on the home side (none that i saw). during the second half, the argyle side got pretty full but there were some left

I've got a complaint!

They wanted $7 just to get in that not that great stadium!

Grande Communications only cost $5 and its state of the art!

Then the dang ole score board is junk, I seen STR and his wife in Allsups for a pit stop and she said we should make a collection for them a new scoreboard! lol I agree:D

Yuh, I got mine from the administration building for $4.

My cousin didn't tho and he went up to the ticket stand and told the lady he needed a ticket, then she said $7 and he was like WTH!!!

But it's his own fault for not getting one in Snyder like I told him!

No man! I didn't even see him till after the game was over!

I was just saying that it was kind of expensive, but it don't matter

When Wylie played like 3 or 4 games in a row at Birdville, the tickets were $7 every time. It was a pretty new place then too. The prices are just high due to the new turf and it's the 3rd round.

12-01-2007, 08:35 AM
the turf was more than likely paid off with bonds - schools dont spent $750-$1M for turf then raise tickets prices to pay it off - that would take 50 years

think guys ....

Roll'em up
12-01-2007, 08:56 AM
Ticket prices are usually set by the shools playing the game. Then that money is put into a pool and the site gets their money for stadium costs then the officials, UIL, and then it gets halfed to the two schools.

yep .............. at Waco ISD when you buy tix there is a sign that states that prices are set by the schools ...

I noticed at the Snyder/Monahans game that ALL prices at the gate were $7....but at the game that was being played after that one, it was $3 for students and $5 for adults.

Which goes to show that the school IS the one who sets the prices.

I agree with DaHop, why penalize the "visitor" who won the toss to be the "home" side....they are STILL visitors to that particular stadium!!

I was at the game and neither side was close to full. Snyder had more fans than Argyle but there were still plenty of seats left. Nice field but it was unfortunate the scoreboard went awry. The host facility has nothing to do with the price of tickets. The stadium charges a flat fee that is paid from gate receipts. On another note, the clown blowing Snyder's horn needs to get a clue. He would blow the horn while Argyle was at the line of scrimmage ready to play. I have seen a ref penalize the offending team 15yds for unsportsmanlike conduct for that kind of crap. To blow the horn every time you make a first down or if you don't agree with a call on the field is a bit overkill but to blow the thing while the other team is trying to audible is just wrong. If you have a band director that has a clue, have the band play while your opponent has the ball. For the record, I did not have a horse in that race, I only wanted to go watch a good ballgame. I got what I wanted. Congrats to both teams.

Exactly! In a regular season home/home situation, ticket prices are the same for home and visitors, so why should playoffs be different?

You had the opertunity to buy a ticket for 5 bucks at the school admin building. That field is awsome. Yea the scoreboard was nerve racking but I wish we had a field half that nice. Thanks for the hospitality Graham!!

This doesn't anwer your question. Sweetwater is the same way
this week. The Wylie game was 7 I believe and the Vernon
game today is like 5 and 3 bucks. I was wondering the same
thing.

Sorry to bust your bubble, The horn was blown alot last night between plays and it will be blown alot more between plays. It was not blown once the teams were at the line of scrimmage. I'm sure the officials would have thrown a flag if that was happening.

I don't know what bubble you are talking about but you are absolutely wrong on this point. The horn was blown at least three times in the 4th quarter while Argyle was at the line of scrimmage. I understand how enthusiasm can take over. If you thought I was implying Snyder was trying to interrupt the snap count, that was not my intent. I think Snyder had the momentum and everyone got caught up in it.

I listened to both Snyder and Wylie's games on the radio last
night. Whoever kept blowing the horn at the Wylie/Andrews
game has more of a complaint than the Snyder game. IMO

Did Snyder have that horn at Grande?? I don't even remember hearing it.

I know one year when Crane was playing Midland Christian at Grande, MC got an unsportsman like conduct penalty for their excessive blowing of the horn.

They still blew it, the official finally told the coach that the "blower" was getting real close to being escorted from the premises.

What was funny is, Crane was kicking their butts...when MC got a first down, you would have thought they made a touchdown!!:D

(I think I have a long ago thread about this!!)

Someone on the Andrews side had a train horn or something, and they didn't hesitate to blow it when Wylie came to the line. But, they weren't too smart since they sometimes blew it when Andrews had the ball. The horn did have an impact on the game as there were several false starts/illegal procedures by Wylie. I never saw the refs do anything about it.

Does anyone know what the UIL rules are for mechanical noisemakers in the playoffs? Several teams have mechanical horns but blowing when the offense is trying to call a play seems like it should against the rules.

I was a little disappointed that there were no programs available.

Typically this is handled by the host stadium.

Other than that, I thought the facility was good.

Seating where I was sitting was filled, no extra seats in my line of vision, I'm sure there were some empty seats, but not many

Argyle's side had plenty of empty seats though
