I would have to say Chris Smith (Navasota) over 630 yds in 3 games and 6 tds

Yea, Chris Smith of Navasota is a player, as is another back from Dist. 23, Emeal Andrus from Sealy. If you don't think so, just ask him, haha (j/k TTAB) Runnels from Bellville has put up decent numbers here late, but I don't think he's as pure a runner as the other 2.

Chris Smith is the real deal. He punishes you to the point that you don't even want to tackle him late in the game. He will run you over and keep on trucking into the endzone.

Smith is also an outstanding student in school. This kid has a bright future ahead of him. Good Luck to him and the Rattlers....

Jamal Williams Rockdale over 600 rushing yards in 3 games. In each of those three games he has broken at least 1 attempt and it being over 50 yards. In Elgin he ran a sweep for 96 yards right before halftime.

Lashon Thayer of Gatesville is the toughest kid I've seen in a while.

Even though he plays at Spring Hill, give Jamario Thomas his credit. Our RB, Andrew Hines, at Gilmer is not too shabby either.

Kaorder,
I thought you were from Forney?

The Rice Raiders have a great set of backs. These backs are Charles Huffman and Micheal Spears the 1 2 punch for the Raiders. Huffman runs with power and speed through the defender while Spears runs with his mind and avoids the defender. Both of these players rushed for over 1,000 yards last year and will do it again this year. Raiders all the way!

I enjoy watching Travis Franco from Sinton. He will break into his own the next two years...
Franco, Amdon Castillo and Stephen Burke...

Andrew McKinney from Decatur. He is 6'4" 235 lbs and he runs a 4.5 . Last year gained around 1300 yds in a spread offense. Not one to run around anyone but rather throuhg people. Has committed to SMU and I look for him to have another great year. Last week he had over 100 yds receiving so he can catch the ball also.

this is the way we ball

Rex Harper Kennedale
Over the past three years he has averaged over 10 yards a carry.
That's a first down every time he touches the ball!

the sweep against elgin is a little misleading. It was a toss with nowhere to run so he changes directions and finds the opposite sideline. He is a good back but the Navasota kid is the real deal and he is a junior....

Got to agree with 29x281. Lashon Thayer is as good as any back I have seen. This kid has great heart and almost nevers gives ground. He may not be the fastest back but he has lightning quick feet. Most backs with feet like that dance to much, but he sees the hole and hits it full speed. He also has a very good O-line.

I would definitely have to say that Smith is one of the top rbs in 3a. He is amazing. He isn't the fastest in the world, he runs about a 4.5, but he is a punishing runner. His work ethic is second to none. He is probably the second strongest person on the team behind Wesley (who went to state in powerlifting). He is also a good student and good kid, which is his most defining characteristic. And yes, he is still only a junior!

La Shon thayer gets my vote. It took a team effort to bring him down and he still broke one.
Burnet just loaded up the line and he carried three of four down the field before he could be brought down. One on one Burnet had only one kid that could tackle him. Coaches and community say he's a great kid and an asset to the community, so maybe there is more to him than just football. Best of Luck to him!!!

Lashon Thayer gets my vote. He is continuing the tradition of great running backs in Gatesville. Before Thayer the Hornets were led by Taurean Henderson who is the starting feature back for Texas Tech, he also set a NCAA record for most receptions by a freshman. From what I hear Thayer is being recruited pretty heavily from Oklahoma State.

Rex is probably the best running back in 3a, not only does he average a first down every carry, he did it last year as well. According to the newspaper:

29 Carries for 327 yards and 7 TD's

wat does this tell us???...hm...

Well he averages about 11.3 per carry, his TD % is very high. He is also extremely fast, u can ask the everman defense from last year, when he ran up more than 150 yards easily. Not to mention, he has the same amount of carries as our FB.

There's the info...u think about it.

You'll have a few to watch in Cuero next year, maybe this year as the season gets along....

But I'd suggest that if you wanna see two great RB's playing for one great team, go see Rice Consolidated...

It doesn't even look like football, it looks like track season... They're sprinting and hurdling all over people... I wouldn't be surprised if one of 'em did a triple jump into the endzone this season...
