A player was failing and apparently they let him drop the class and they changed the grade.

this is the deal...and I dont know why channel 8 waited till the end of the report to mention it....if the Grade change form was signed by both the teacher and the principal, then everything is legit. They needed to talk to that teacher and I dont know why they didnt

they should investigate into whether or not #1 the teacher really signed it and #2 whether or not the principal forced the teacher to sign it

It just seems like WFAA is a little late on this story

Not sure if someone at WFAA has a personal vendetta or if they really don't have anything better to investigate

Sorry Kep...I wasn't on here when you put the thread up.

However here's what I can say. I called up a friend of mine who is a SOC graduate and is a head basketball coach in DISD right now. He was on his way back from a game so I explained to him exactly what I just saw. In my opinion the kid is eligible and he said that so long as everything was signed off on that the kid was indeed eligible. He's gone through plenty of things just like this so he knows what he's talking about when it comes to issues of being eligible.

I also know this about Coach Mays. He's just about as honest as they come. In DISD that's a rarity. I can probably count on one hand the basketball coaches in DISD who I fully trust and he'd be one of them.

What Channel 8 just did is beyond ridiculous and my friend has a good idea where this came from and he's going to call around to confirm it. There's some folks I could call as well, but I'll wait until tomorrow to do so. It took my friend about 2 seconds to give an answer when I asked him where these allegations came from. If it's who he said it is, it not the first time they've done this. Channel 8 should be ashamed of themselves for even running this story. Interviewing Breihaupt was laughable.

here is my concern about the whole deal...

The fact that the kid missed days leading right up to the State Tourney seems fishy. Then they interviewed him and he said he dind't know he had that class. How is that? Was he counted present any days before that?

Why didnt they attempt to talk to the teacher that signed off on it.? I agree with JR....if everything was signed off on then everything is okay and the kid would be eligible. Thats who I would like to hear from.

I'll be interested to see the rest of what Channel 8 comes up with on this. I don't think they'll come up with anything of substance, but it'll be fun to watch them make hypocritical jackasses of themselves.

Their newscast tonight was hypocrisy at its best. They begin the SOC story and they end with that story about Skyline. I almost had to laugh there at the end when Dale had good things to say about Skyline...KA knows exactly what I'm talking about with them. That was a farce to run a story about them and put Coach Samples in a positive light.

that is weird. The article on the WFAA site does say the 2005-2006 season....but now hes a freshman at Eastfield. I guess he was a junior that year considering it was his English 3 class
