These ladies are no doubt going to help with getting our program back to national championship competition like it used to be. In one word - this class is "awesome." Four of these women have already competed for the United States internationally and done well. Three rank in the top 50 in the world. They are all great outstanding recruits and are very good students in the classroom.
They are:
1. Kathleen Hersey - remember her. She is going to be great. She is from Roswell, GA. She was the top swimming recruit this year.
2. Shelby Cullinan of Paradise Valley, AZ. One of the top divers in the country. She is the cousin of former Olympic diving bronze medalist Cynthia Potter.
3. Leah Gingrich of Enola, PA. A great swimmer. Did a good job for Team USA at the high school level.
4. Katie Riefenstahl of Blude Well, PA. Another great swimmer who has done well in National Meets.
5. Kalee Bispo of Modesto, CA. A great swimmer who has won gold in the USA National Championships.
6. Kierstin Thornhill of Flower Mound, Texas. A great swimmer who has done well in the Texas State Meet.
7. Kate Nelson of Alburquerque, NM. A great swimmer who owns 8 records individually in NM.
8. Lauren Caldwell a great diver from Midland, TX who has done well in the USA National Championship.
These girls are special and we look forward to them having great careers at UT. Welcome to Austin Ladies!
