What offense does WO-S run? What defense?
I haven't seen them play all season.

Spread but they seem to run out of it mostly and apparently they have the Power I package...
and defense i'm guessin a 4-3 but it will change to defend Giddings...

The Power I is a good thing to have against Giddings. They should utilize that often.
I'm a fan of the Wing T myself. I like the fact there are so many different things you can run out of it.
Knowing what I now know about Giddings, I'd show them a 5-3 look and drop one of my LBs into coverage at the snap. Giddings doesn't pass much, plus I could use the extra DT to double team Urban every now and again. They like to pull him (and the LG) a lot. Am I correct?

Its sad to see how most people voted this week, because they're going to find themselves wrong come Friday night. Most thought when Giddings and Caldwell played, that Caldwell would beat the buffaloes by two or three scores. Shoot, I believe that Caldwell was even the favorite by a couple of scores going into that game...But Guess what? Everyone else was dead-wrong! Giddings did what they had to, and shut down a Caldwell offense averaging over 40 pts./ game to only 7. Giddings defense will hold their opponent to whatever score is needed to win. If Gidding's offense scores only one touchdown, then they'll hold anybody to a feild goal or less. This is not going to be the end of football for the buffaloes, not this week.

WOS will give Giddings a slap back down to earth, a dose of reality and deflate a few heads and egos around here on the DL this week.

Probably not. People seem to think that Wo-s is going out against a team that they don't know. We've played them the last two years, so our coaches know very well what they like to do. Where they are weak on both offense and defense. They can throw a few wrinkles in, but Wo-s make adjustments well. They will be ready for whatever.
As I said before Giddings better not come out overly aggressive trying to sack the Qb because for one, he's strong and quick and if they do over persue, the screen pass will kill them.

Here's a another note that a bunch of people may not realize.
Giddings beat Waco Hewitt Midway. The week before that game, Midway beat 5A Round Rock. Round Rock is in the 5A playoffs. Midway has a HUGE offensive line.
I know, I know you're not supposed to compare like this but it is such a major comparison that I had to type it to show and remind what Gidding's can do when faced with major competition.

Tam, do you think we don't know the counter to a aggressive defense is the screen. That is why Sealy was successful w/ it. However it never got them in the end zone. They had a 65 or so yard td run. After the first two screens the defense started to spot it early enough to make the play quicker. You think that your coaches know our defensive weakness, and our coaches are stupid or what. If you knew our weaknesses then why could you take advantage last year. This game will be a DEFENSIVE WAR & guarantee you, there will not be 28 scored by either team, that is my prediction.

WOS runs the spread and has rushed for close to 2,900 yards and have thrown for close to 1,200 yards. They are not one dimensional and if you stack the line to stop the run they will beat you with the pass. They have a very strong offensive line that has been getting better every week since week 1.
The defense they run is the 50 mainly. They do make adjustments and I would imagine you will see 8-9 in the box this week with man coverage on the outside. Our corners are very athletic and can handle being left out on an island which is good because we can bring an extra player up for run support. I don't know if this is what will happen, but that's what I would do. Stop the run and force them to throw it.

First of all we are not Sealy. So just because you made an adjustment and stopped them doesn't mean you will do the same to Wo-s. They are not one dimensional by any means. If you stop one thing, they have several other things to go to. No, I don't think your coaches are stupid. In fact, I think they are smart enough to realize that it's much harder for them to prepare for a Wo-s team who will spread you out and you have to guess whether or not they will pass or run, than it would for Wo-s to prepare for someone who they know is gonna run. The reason we couldn't beat you last year? probably the same reason you lost to us the year before...the breaks went your way. I think you all are still breathing a sigh of relief after that game last year.

Since we're reminding of what teams have done... WOS has beaten Dayton, who won a share their district championship in 4A, has 5 shutouts on the season, and won their first playoff game against a 9-1 team 49-7.

How many 4A teams did you guys play?

Giddings should run some triple option tomorrow night...try to loosen up that WO-S defense a bit, then punch them right in the faces with a lot of double reads.

Yeah, we did...and with 2 days of practice. Barely two, 'cause one was outside and one was in they gym. The game should've been cancelled because that was the week the hurricane hit Orange and we were out of school a couple of days. We lost by 3 points in a game we should have won.
All I have to say about Fitz is, he had better be practicing on his readin' skills....

Apparently you didn't detect my sarcasm. I was implying that Giddings isn't going to beat West Orange-Stark and that they'd actually advance if they played Smithville (a team that didn't make playoffs but a team that Giddings can easily beat)
See where I was coming from? Good.

Smithville is not yet worthy to even be mentioned for any reason in a GOTW thread!:D
Just kidding, I enjoyed watching those Tigers this year. There are some districts in Texas where they would have made the playoffs, not many, but some. D22 comes to mind. They give teams a game until their mostly two way line and secondary wears out.
GO GIDDINGS!!!!!!!!

This game pretty much depends on Fitzhenry's readiness in my mind. Whether he is effective or not will determine how good the Buffs play.

Yes. I hope it doesn't rain, but if it does I'll have my rain gear ready. The good thing about not having a dog in the fight is if it really starts coming down I can leave whenever I want! :D

Yes, RR is in the 2nd round. They play Klein I believe.
Midway did not quite make the playoffs behind Waco and Copperas Cove and 2 others.

Giddings didn't play any 5A teams this year... they may have had a scrimmage against them, but no official games....
they played 4A Midway, who was the 3rd place playoff team in 16-4A after they upset Brownwood
and they played 4A Houston Kashmere who ended the season 2-8
4A Midway beat 5A Round Rock... who is currently 8-4 and won their 2nd round 5A Playoff game over Klein today 35-13
