District 23 wins all 3 games in the 1st round over 24. The first game Navasota won 41-20 over Needville. Games last night Caldwell beat the District champ Columbus 42-31. In a game that most thought would not be close, Giddings beat 2nd seed Sealy 21-12, Sealy played very well in this one, but Giddings held on for the win, even without Brock in the 2nd half.
Many said 23 would go 3-0 vs 24 in the 1st round, now lets see if 23 can win 3 in round 2!

Sealy's defense took advantage of the new quarterback/center combo and 4 fumbles, but the Giddings defense proved they were State-ranked caliber by holding the offense to a couple field goals and a touchdown. After turning over the ball again this time at the 30 with less than a couple minutes left Sealy had a chance to drive down and kick the winning field goal, but thanks to the heroics of the defense they stiffened and the offense was backed into a corner and forced to turnover the ball where Locke took it to the house to seal the deal. Overall if Sealy returns enough starters next year the chances of them leaving in the first round are very slim. I saw a very talented but inexperienced team in Sealy so maybe with the offseason at hand they might be able to give Giddings a run for thier money next year. Great game buffs, way to overcome injuries and adversity and pull through, get healthy and ill see you at the game next week...btw...does anyone know the WOS game or do they play tonight?

Congratulations to Navasota, Giddings & Caldwell! The Rattlers were very impressive in their win over Needville. Sealy played Giddings a much closer game than most people expected. IMO, this was a trap game for the Buffs. The Tigers had steadily improved over the season and were playing with nothing to lose. The Hornets took care of Columbus to complete the sweep over D24-3A. Good luck to the Rattlers, Buffs and Hornets as they continue their quest in the upcoming playoffs.

Sealy loses their quarterback, rb #2, and 3 starting linemen on offense; on defense they lose two down linemen and #10 everyone else is back.

what do you mean "might be able to give giddings a run for their money next year"? Sealy was picked to lose by 40 points or more and not ranked in the top 25. Remember with 1:40 left in the fourth sealy was down by 2. That sounds like a "run for their money to me" Maybe Giddings should stop patting its one dimensional offense on the back and get ready for their next game. Thank coach Fitzhenry for illustrating to us how to get 4 timeouts in a half.

Willing to bet that these two districts won be the same after realignment

Wharton could move back over to Region IV- like three years ago with Needville, Sweeny, Columbia, Palacios, Stafford and maybe Edna

Sealy will most stay in REgion III with
Bellville, Rice, Columbus etc

District 21 is officially 2-0 (with the Kirbyville game left to be played) and are looking quite good to be 3-0 over District 22

I would love Bellville to get back in the old district with Sealy, Columbus, Rice, La Grange, and whoever the 6th team would be. If it's Navasota, it would be a battle b/t them and Bellville for the title.

How is Rice's enrollment figures looking?
