I am surprised that it was that close. I thought Gilmer might have one of those call off the dogs kinda nights. LE just plays Gilmer tough. Some teams always seem to have your number.

Actually, Gilmer was up on LE 14-0, then LE came back and tied it at 14-14. Tied it up. LE was ahead at one point, 26-21. Gilmer's size and power began to tell partway through the second half, though, as key LE players fell to injury time and time again. Half of the game was close, then Gilmer pulled away. A great game, but nothing that gives people a reason to post that LE was just another beatable team. We gave them hell for a large part of the game, making them earn their win, and with a final score of 41-26 (not blowout territory), if Gilmer truly deserves some of the rankings they've gotten, LE ain't too bad. Gilmer better be ready for Royse City, they were excellent last year, and may have more of an answer size-wise for the Buckeyes. Good luck to all, and enjoy the ride if you can stay in. It's an amazing thing to be part of if you can go all the way.

Note that no one from Gilmer is taking anything away from the Leopards.

I think this would be a good non-district game to schedule in place of the game against Atlanta.

Honestly, Atlanta is losing enrollment and doesn't match up well anymore. Liberty-Eylau is more our size and is only about 20 miles farther.

In the '70s, the Bucks and Leopards were in the same district, the old 7-3A back when 4A was as high as it went. I'm so old I played against them when Harris Field was brand-new.

Liberty Hill (Last year's DII Champs) is the real deal and to be putting the DI crown on Gilmer's head is definitely premature.

Who-dun-it!!?
