Listening to games just isn't the same as being there, but I guess it beats having nothing at all.

I'm stuck on location the next two weeks so this will be the only way I get my fix.

i really can't decide if Needville is shooting themselves in the foot, or Navasota is just that good...i mean they can't even run a fake punt without even throwing an interception...

Pratt fumbles....Needville gets it w/ 2 seconds left on the clock on the 38yd line. Too little too late I think in this half anyway.

IHStangFan
11-15-2007, 09:38 PM
incomplete pass....halftime

27 to 6 Navasota. Needville needs to make some HUGE adjustments on D. Wilkerson is out so Hadjik and Grant will have to pick up the slack which will be tough.

i just seems that the Jays Runningbacks are dancing to much and not hitting the hole...Defensive wise they need to pressure the QB...Hadjik at Safety should help because he's speedy enough to maybe break up some passes...

good point by announcers.....why in the WORLD would you change your D scheme up .....this is the first time they have played a 3-3-5......and its obviously not working. Wonder if they'll go back to the 4-3 in the second half? "you can't abandon what got you here"....exactly ...the announcer is 100% right. That baffles me just a bit. I can understand making some adjustments to prepare for a team...but changing your entire D look w/ only a week of prep.??

IHStangFan
11-15-2007, 10:04 PM
teams back on the field....Wilkerson is out w/ a shoulder separation. This is not good. Needville's main weapon a non factor....this could get ugly. He had 62yds on 8 carries I think they said.

Sounds like the 'Jays just couldn't ever get it going. :( nope....other than their first drive, they continued to stumble and shoot themselves in the foot. Went to a 3-3-5 D for this game after running a 4-3 all year...it backfired horribly. Wilkerson went out early w/ a seperated sholder, being he was our main weapon that didn't help either. It spiraled outa control from there. Navasota's QB/WR combo had a field day and Pratt got things rolling as the game went on and went to have a fantastic game. He's the real deal judging by listening to the game. Didn't realize he was being recruited by USC, UT, A&M, etc.

what were pratt's stats by the way. I am not against changing things up on defense to stop someone, like gidding's adjustment this year to stop running teams. Giddings went away from the 3-3 in games against strong running teams. With that said, why would needville go to the 3-3 to face navasota. Obviously they saw film and fealt that navasota runs the spread a lot. I guess what they didn't see was that Pratt is one of the best backs in the state. By going to a 3-3 needville just forced navasota into doing what is should do all the time. Give the ball to Pratt untill the other team stops him, then spread it out. I think that navasota passes well enough to mix in some pass, but keep giving the ball to pratt. Needville coaches must not have known that navasota coaches were smart enough to give the ball to pratt against a 3 man front even though their tendancy is to throw the ball.

I think Pratt wound up w/ 223 yds and 5 TDs??...4 on the ground?? I could be mistaken, but pretty sure those were his stats. Navasota DID in fact run out of the spread most of the game. Early on Pratt was not much of a factor as the star appeared to be Jackson. Later in the game Pratt became more involved. Navasota turned in a VERY solid performance both in the air and on the ground. They came out fired up and played a nearly flawless game.

Great season needville, you ran into a tough district, I mean team in the 1st round.

SORRY I CAN'T help myself, I wasn't even in on this district talk, but I couldn't resist the 1st opportunity of 3.

But last year D24 took 2/3 vs. D23. Every year is different. Putting labels on districts is just not accurate year-in & year-out.

This year, I think D23 is stronger overall.

Pratt is a national recruit for next year - I sure hope he stays close to home & plays for the Aggies & our new coach!

He's the real deal...

Congrays Rattlers! Pratt's offical stats were 17-224 rushing and 1-78 recieving and 5TD's...Good job by Needville. There is not enough any Navasota fan can say about this game, but we have a whole weekend to do so.

WOOO!! Congrats to the Rattlers!

I cannot say enough about how this team played tonight! Dexter Pratt ran like a man possessed, and I saw the scouts from UT smiling very hard when he caught that 78 yard TD pass. This is by far the most complete game they've played all year.

With that said, I don't think enough praise has been given to this defense. The first stringers only allowed 6 points... they started sitting the starters after the score to put them up 34-6. Basically, they shut down the Needville offense when the game still mattered. If they play this type of game against Jasper/Splendora... all I can say is: We'll see you in the Regionals LH. :D

Brandal Jackson has been doing those things all year... He tends to get over shadowed by Dexter in a lot of instances though.

Once again, I can't say enough about this win... Go Rattlers!

Congratulations to Navasota, they had way too many weapons for the Blue Jays. Good luck for the rest of the playoffs and my hats off to their coaching staff. This Navasota team has steadily improved through out this season and are hitting on all 8 cylinders. Way to represent D23-3A!

Just got off work, but I listened to the entire game on the radio and I was excited! For those who wanted stats:

Rushing:
NAV - 26-243-4TD Pratt 17-223-4TD

Passing:
NAV - 9-11-212-2TD, all Stokes
NED - 3-11-21-1 INT, split up 3 ways.

Receiving:
NAV - Jackson 5-120-TD, Pratt 1-78-TD

Congrats to the Rattlers, maybe they FINALLY played with same level of intensity as they did against the buffaloes.(Which they were very impressive that game)

IMO if the rattlers would have played caldwell like this, caldwell would have had 2 losses in district.

Congrats Rattlers, Go hornets and Buffs tonight.

I attended this game and was very impressed with Navasota's defense. While they bent early, they held, strengthened as the game progressed and showed how good they can be.

Needville's Wilkerson had some good runs, but really was a non-factor in the loss. He went out at halftime, but by then the score was already 27-6. Needville scored one more time while the Rattler first team defense was in, but never really came close again until the reserves stepped in.

Navasota dominated, Pratt shown, and the better team won. Good luck next week.

All I heard all week was how Needville had 3 or 4 backs that were all pretty decent. Therefore, one guy getting injured really shouldn't have hurt Needville's offense that much right?

Crow22
11-16-2007, 02:16 PM
Yeah, and we had 3 go down to injury in the 1st half. #5 that carried for 61 yds in the 2nd half was a wide receiver.

Navasota was the better team. Nobody from Needville has talked any trash at all leading up to this game. Congrats on the win and good luck next week. We're pulling for ya'll.

the problem Crow is that some people are so narrow minded that they cannot understand logic... problem with posters who have no clue and can ruin things sometimes... you have stated several times that Navasota was the better team and should have won the game regardless but yet some of the Navasota posters cannot see that...
thus proving district 23's superiority... as they have always proven:doh: ;)

Maybe you should learn how to correctly write a sentence. Then at the end of the sentence doesn't make any sense.

What does sentence structures have to do with a message board, nothing. Spelling is more important than the way a sentence is structured on a message board. ;)

Well, start a HEMOTOXIC thread and have fun with him there and we won't bother or get our feelings hurt at all since that is your intention. We won't even have to read the thread. But everyone else having to read the negativity is not fair. The team is playing well and all are doing well in school also, and the town is being supportive and showing up in force to every game. HEMOTOXIC is not the entire town and team, only one extremely hyped up fan that types a little too much of what he thinks. At least he is not from Snyder:rolleyes:
