That's just what my roommate came in and told me they said on TV. We do have three of them though.

All counts carry 0-5 years punishment, and he would be looking at possible jail time if he pleads guilty and almost definite jail time if he goes to trial and loses. (A couple of years maximum the way the federal sentencing guidelines work.) In West Texas fed court, at a minimum, he would probably get about 10 months - half of that in a halfway house - and a felony conviction for the rest of his life. In California fed court - even though it's supposed to be the same across the country - who knows how easy they'll go.

this story provides a lot more details and looks like Bonds is facing an uphill battle:

http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/news/story?id=3112487

And just from what law experts discussed when the Michael Vick news broke, the FEDs have a 90% success rate of convicting people they prosecute. They don't go after somebody unless they have good, solid evidence.

Barry Bonds may very well have taken his last swing in MLB.

I don't think the feds were worrying about his playing career when the research was going on. As we've seen in other cases (Vick, NBA refs), they move to their own beat, and they'll bring out information whenever they're ready. They don't exist to worry about who the all-time home run king is.
