How can there be such thing as a district co champ with overtime now in existence? Back in the day, there was always a possibility that a team could tie, therefore having 1/2 win. If your team and the team you tied with beat everyone else, then yes, you were titled co-champs. Then you had to flip to see who went #1 and #2 in the playoffs. Now there is this great invention called overtime which is so neat because it clearly gives sole ownership of a championship to one team because you can always go back to head to head competition if two teams have the same record. IS THIS CORRECT? Just curious how a team is saying that they are co-champs when they have the same record as the other team but were defeated in head to head competition.

It happens all the time now, when two or more teams end up with identicle district records. They only use tie breakers to determine bracket seatings, or if there are more than 3 teams with the same record, they'll usually flip or +/- points to determine odd man out.

co and tri champs still exist. For instance, the top 3 teams in the district are set. Team A beat Team B. Team B beat Team C. Team C beat Team A. They are considered tri champs and one of them will go D1 by enrollment and then the other two will be head to head to consider seeding in D 2.

For instance. Ill use teams from our District for example.

South Oak Cliff was 4-0 going into Week 10. Kimball was 3-1 with their only loss being to SOC.

If SOC would have lost to Pinkston in Week 10 and Kimball would have won they would have both been 4-1 and they would have been Co-Champs EVEN THOUGH SOC HAD ALREADY BEATEN KIMBALL. Weird deal. Now for seeding in the playoffs, SOC would have been the higher seed.

Quad champs

Van is odd out because of tiebreaker.

Rockdale had to share co-champs in softball last year with Liberty Hill. After the tigers stomped them in district play.
