Mathis vs Cuero

After looking at videos of Mathis games and seeing scouting reports, Gobbler Head Coach Mark Reeve reports the Pirates run the same type offense as Liberty Hill which Cuero played earlier this season."They utilize a big fullback as their main rusher," he said,"Defensively, they are similar to the three teams we've played. They like to blitz. They are not big but they are quick.

While the Gobblers met goliad's Tigers for the final conference of the season, Mathis meth the Tigers early in the season and won the encounter 32-19.

Through 10 games the Pirates have score 256 points while giving up 172

Didn't I hear somewhere that Mathis' fullback was out (injured I believe) for the 1st 3 or so games? They've been pretty successful since he's been back. Not sure where I heard that... anyway .. I agree -should be a good game. It's the playoff - throw the record books out the window - we're in a whole new season..

He was out I think for 1 or 2 weeks didn't play against West Oso, I think that if he would have played that game that Mathis would have probably have won. Lost that game 6-0. yea I know!! It's going to be a good game hes rush over 1,000 and the other backs are about 800 or less. We have backs that can take it the distance. Its all ball control from now on. Thats my kind of football!

Mathis against West Oso played without Rb Chris Veliz and their next 2 backs played very little during that game. They went with their 4 th string back in their 6-0 loss to West Oso. Mathis is a big underdog in this game and unless they force the Gobblers to make mistake and turn the ball over it could be a long night trying to stop Cuero. I'll be there and hope to see a good game and who knows maybe a upset.

Yea im from sinton and should be backing the people in our district but i just dont see how Mathis is going to pull through to beat Cuero....Cuero is a pretty good team!!!

Yup. He'll end up being a three-year starter just like his older brother Clyde. He was a tailback though. Chris is a fullback and is a hoss.

I REALLY CAN'T SEE MATHIS STOPPING CUERO AT ALL, THERE HAS YET TO BE ANYONE WHO CAN, I AM SURE MATHIS WILL SCORE A TIME OR TWO, BUT IN THE END THE SPEED WILL BE UNLIKE ANYONE THEY HAVE SEEN. THIS GAME WILL END UP IN THE MID TO UPPER 50'S WITH MATHIS HAVING A HARD TIME SCORING TO KEEP UP.

Hey CueroDad, much respect to Cuero but Mathis is just trying to get it together. Yeah we're small but we're quick thats what Coach Reeve said. I don't think that Mathis will give up 50 points to ya maybe half of that. I think its going to be a low scoring game 28-12 something like that but this feels weird like its setting up to be an upset. We haven't had one of those in a while. Hey Liberty Hill and bay city beat ya what makes you think that mathis can't follow those footsteps Huh? Huh? LOL

According to theVictoria Advocate this morning... Arndt had thrown for 1,731 yds. He has thrown 18 td's and 0 int's. He also has a 70% completion percentage. :thumbsup:

i am not goin to say im mad but i am upset at the fact that ur name says cuerogobblers when u wanted mathis to win and and were saying that they are goin to follow in bay city and LH's footsteps!!.....the reason this upsets me so much is because i AM a true gobbler!! i am in athletics and i play sports and go to all of the games as not only an athlete but a fan as well and when i see that someone who is calling themselves a CUERO GOBBLER i expect them to back it up will full support and not goin around saying go pirates.....make up your mind!! a gobbler...or not!?
