I am glad you made this thread cause I just thought of some more. Zach Thomas, Hayward Clay, The Hodges Brothers, Kendall Briles, I am sure I could think of several like most you could.

Just imagine Joseph Banyard times ten. That's if you've seen
Banyard play.

He is in the top 3
but Best ever in Sweetwater at RB

Mike Welch has to be considered
especially since Welch was on a State Championship Team

So was Kenneth as a freshman. Welch went on to Baylor where
he's in their HOF as well as the Texas High School Football HOF.
Welch had more success after HS but I've seen both play. I
think Kenneth was better. IMO.:D

Chris Smith was unbelieveable while he was at Navasota. It took more than two people to take him down on every play, and he hit some defensive players so hard when he put his head down... and he just shrugged off hits.

Clint Finley or Robert Strait. Those 2 just killed us on a yearly basis.

Dexter Butler 6'3'' 250 lb. tailback from Vernon. 1991 District Champion in 100 meters and 5th in the shot put. He had 288 yards rushing vs. Southlake Carroll in the still talked about 1992 Pennington Field matchup of #1 vs. #2. In the preseason matchup at 4a Pampa he ran right through Zac Thomas and 70 yards for a TD on the first play of a Vernon rout. If you don't know about him ask any body from Vernon or Southlake about him.

Billy Pittman, DO-EVERYTHING - Cameron Yoe
Played on varsity as a freshman, leading them to playoffs as a sophmore, junior, and senior, going to the regional semis as a sophmore, now playing wr at texas

Bo or Aaron Schobel, Columbus
Can't remember which one, if not both of them played on the '96 Columbus team that faced Cameron in the "Fog Bowl" at Viking Stadium in Bryan, but both of them are in the NFL now

Patrick Hutka, QB - Rogers
Led the Eagles to state his senior year and is in the top 10 for both career and single season passing yards and attempts

You win for referencing Jay Hess! I believe he was the MVP of the 1987 Holiday Bowl at DB for Iowa as well if memory serves correct. He never talked much about his playing days at Eastland or Iowa though, but I heard he was one heck of a player back in high school at Eastland.

He was the offensive coordinator at my high school, Lampasas, during the years that his father Rod was the head coach there. (1992-1994) He and his dad were years ahead of the curve as far as offense went. His dad was one of the most creative offensive minds that's ever coached at the high school level in Texas or anywhere else for that matter. He was throwing the ball around the yard when it still wasn't popular to do so.

Jay is a great guy in my opinion. Last I heard about him though was a few years back when a coach assaulted him in the restroom down at Crockett High School in Austin. Heard the guy went right in there and hit him over the head with plywood or something like that over a disagreement the two had.
