Wakeland's only loss was 36-0 to Celina

Royse City has averaged 40+ all year, and has not been held under 35 so far.

this looks to be a high scoring affair

Wakeland is in its second season, after a 3-7 record a year ago

Marty Secord (a familiar name to 5A fans) coaches the Wolverines

Royse City has played several rounds deep many times in recent seasons, and has a fantastic offense which beat down playoff teams canton (49-9), Pittsburg (47-6) and Kaufman (49-14) just in pre-district play.

Prediction: 41-32 Royse City

Wakeland will hang with them, no doubt

I think RC takes this one by 3 touchdowns and holds Wakeland to two touchdowns.

Wow, this is one helluva first round matchup. It's a shame one of these teams has to be one and done after such a great season. I'll take RC in a shootout. 42-38

I like 42-24. Both are right above. RC has more experience and will win but FW will hang, just cant hang quite enough yet.

Dang, why couldn't RC gone D2. I would have paid good money to see them play Celina this year. Still will.

Maybe the game will be fast at Homer B. Johnson with Celina running the clock and will go see the end of this game on the way home. I should be a good one to watch.

Wakeland 20

RC controls this one start to finish. Wakeland hasn't seen an offense as dynamic as this one all year. I'd pick RC by more, but I believe they have one guy on offense that's done due to injury so they'll have to be a bit conservative.

JR2004, you came to a game in RC this year with G right? Have you seen Wakeland this year in person as well? Just curious to hear your in depth description of them if you have. I understand they have a good QB, RB, and WR. What is the defense like? Big, quick, 3-4, 4-3? I know they have larger enrollment numbers not sure how much more than RC, I have heard 1400-1600, RC just turned in 1079.

Never did find time to make my way up the road to see Wakeland. Wish I would've, but never could squeeze in one of their games. I did make my way over to an RC game this year when they played Pitt. I think G apologized about 5 times for inviting me to watch that one because of how lopsided the score was...lol. He shouldn't have though because I still enjoyed it quite a bit. That offense is A LOT of fun to watch. Morrison is really, really talented and he's got plenty of playmakers around him. Doesn't hurt that they have one of the better coaching staffs in the state in my opinion either.

I've heard good stuff about Wakeland though. I just don't think they'll be able to match RC's ability to put points on the board in bunches. There's really only a small handful of teams that I believe can stay with RC when they're hitting on all cylinders.

Wakeland has a 4A enrollment just as y'all do, but they still probably have at least another 300 or so kids more than RC in their high school right now. I think it'll be a big struggle for Wakeland once they move up in February.

Should be a good one. Both teams will bring the fans and it should be a great playoff atmosphere. This is the tough bracket in the region IMHO.

You can hear it worldwide at www.sportsgram.net. Pre-game begins at 7:10.
