If the rumors hold up next year Sam Houston in San Antonio will be 3A. They dropped from 5a to 4A in 2006.

What's the story there?

How do you lose over 1000 kids in 2 years?

Dallas Roosevelt was... they were 5A all the way up until 1990, which was when they dropped down to 4A.

Zapata chose to be 5A from 1994-1999 due to being so far away from any other 4A programs but they never actually had the enrollment of a 5A school.

I don't believe there are any other current 3A programs that have actually been 5A (since 1980).

Snyder was in the largest classification for one realignment back in the early 70's ('72-'73), but the largest classification was 4A at the time...

Palestine was in the largest classification as well for a few years in the early 70's because they used to be in the same district as Longview and Lufkin (1970-1973)

Silsbee was in the largest classification for one year only (1969) then dropped back down and the same can be said for Waco La Vega, which was 4A for one year only in 1971.

Borger was largest classification for a long time prior to 1976 and from 1951-1955 they were part of the "little SWC" with Abilene, Odessa and Midland

Not sure except the school is in a really rough part of town. No growth at all in East S.A. nothing but gangs and drugs.

Sam Houston is an inner city school and not in a very attractive part of SA. I imagine most people are moving out of the area towards the north east part of town. Just my opinion, not a fact.

Sam Houston has been 4A for at least the last 5 realignments.

Snyder was a 4A back when there was no 5A in the Late 1960s and around 1970. Was in the district with 5A Lubbock High, Lubbock Monterey, and Herford I believe. It was for only one alignment though
