AT HALFTIME!!!!

UNT-405 Yards
Navy 423 Yards

The teams combined for 63 points in the 2nd quarter.

Navy has already run for 315 yards in the first half.

Freshman Giovanni Vizza is 24-28 for 342 yards and has SEVEN TOUCHDOWN passes thus far for the Mean Green...

My gosh...The winner may need 80! I'd actually like to see some of this game!

I think Dodge has his quarterback

And the receivers aren't too bad either

He's got the offense going in the right direction

Now to get the defense on track

Navy up now 58-49 with 6 min. to go in the 3rd.

4 players for Navy could possibly hit a 100 yards on the ground.

North Texas is however driving and is in Navy territory.

North Texas scores again.

58-56 Navy with 3:39 left in the 3rd.

And before I could finish typing this Navy scores again on a 12 yard TD run following a long kickoff return.

65-56 with 2:30 to go in the 3rd...lol.

The teams have combined for...

105 plays
1147 yards
18 touchdowns

And there's still more than a quarter to go...lol.

GO NAVY!

Is this on TV? Tech is stinking it up....figure I might as well watch a kid I know instead.

Don't think it's on TV. ESPN needs to get ahold of the tape from this and make it an instant classic though. :) I'd love to see this game.

Is it really amazing or is it just a poor defensive game?

North Texas just scored again as I typed this, but didn't get the 2 point conversion.

It's now 74-62 Navy!

Navy just recovered the onside kick with 3 minutes to go in this one. Plenty of time for 3 or 4 more TD's. :D

I tried to get tix for this back in the summer but it was sold out according to the dorky UNT ticket sellers ...

DENTON, Texas (AP) -- Navy and North Texas set a major-college record by combining for 136 points in the Midshipmen's 74-62 win over North Texas on Saturday.

It wasn't the highest scoring game of the season, though. Weber State and Portland State, who racked up 141 for the all-division record two weeks ago. Weber State won 73-68 in a Football Championship Subdivision (formerly I-AA) game.

Navy, the nation's best rushing offense, set a school record by running for 572 yards with eight rushing TDs a week after snapping a 43-year losing streak to Notre Dame.

The Midshipmen (6-4) tied a school record by scoring at least 30 points for the eighth straight game. They scored their most points in a game since beating Colby 121-0 in 1919.

Zerbin Singleton ran for three touchdowns, including a 65-yard run midway through the third quarter that pushed Navy ahead 58-49. That was the fourth straight touchdown for the Midshipmen, a stretch that put them ahead for the first time.

Singleton's 65-yard score was set up after Ram Vela intercepted a pass by Giovanni Vizza, who threw an NCAA freshman-record eight touchdown passes. Both of Vizza's interceptions came in the second half.

A week ago, Navy beat Notre Dame 46-44 in triple overtime. The Midshipmen and North Texas combined for more points than that by halftime, when the Mean Green led 49-45.

I wish I knew how Haberer did, but he's at LB and it doesn't sound like there was a lot of defense.

Congrats to the Midshipmen!

absolutely - the girl told me that unless I had a certain amount of 'Mean Green Priority Points' there were no tix available for this game

According to the stats for the game on ESPN's website, he had one tackle.

Really wasn't a whole lot of tackles to go around though as the top two for Navy only had seven apiece.

YAY! One is better than none. :D

LHMom should be able to give a report. She was at the game to watch her nephew, who plays for UNT. :)

I find it hard to believe they had this one sold out back in the summer. Sounds like you got the run around.

"Mean Green Priority Points"...lol.

What will they think of next?

Well it'll be an interesting report for sure.

UNT has a WR from Lampasas, Brock Stickler, that got in on the action. Didn't do that much, but he had 3 catches today. It'll be a fun story for him and everyone else from both teams to say they were a part of this game.

WOW! We just got in from this game and it was amazing! If you like offense, you would have loved this game. On the way home, We heard on ESPN radio that the following NCAA records were set in this game:

Most combined points in a quarter (2nd quarter)
Most combined points in a half (1st half)
Most combined points in a non-overtime game

Vizza (UNT'S QB) set an NCAA freshman record with 8 TD passes
Navy set a school record for rushing yards in a game (Navy lead the nation in rushing ypg before this game and certainly added to that lead with over 500 yards on the ground)

The game was certainly NOT a sell out. While they did sell out the reserved section, there were many seats available in the $15 general admission sections.

Fun atmosphere today with a large Navy contigent. There even was a pre-game "flyover" by jets from the local Naval Station.
