That's right the smallest school in 3A is in the playoffs due to Ft. Stockton's win over Clint. A school with an enrollment of 228 students is getting to be in the 3A playoffs!

This is easily the best story of the entire year in 3A. We've really got to find a way to get in touch with someone from Anthony. This school is so far to the west that it's actually a SHORTER drive for them to go see the Pacific Ocean out by San Diego than it is to Houston. Congratulations Anthony on this great accomplishment!

Question: Why is this stickied?

they opted to move up in the last re-alignment

i believe for travel reasons

More than likely they did opt up for travel reasons. Being in 2A is not feasible for them monetarily I believe due to how far they would have to travel. None of the West Texas 2A districts would provide them any relief at all travel-wise. Districts 1 and 2 in 2A are both comprised of Panhandle schools.

Making the playoffs in 3A makes it that much sweeter though. Think about this...Their enrollment of 228 is not even a quarter of what Royse City turned in.

I follow Dallas Madison. I look at us as a small school with around 550 students. We still have about two and a half times as many students as they do.

It's really cool to see this happen and hopefully we can get every active member of this board to sign this before pirate4state sends it off to their head coach next week!

I know it's quite unlikely, but if WOS and Anthony met in the finals it would be the eastern most town on I-10 playing the western most town on I-10 in Texas.

I get off at Exit #877 to go to my parent's house....

and I know Anthony used to be Exit #0, and I imagine that hasn't changed unless they renumbered the exits.

Thanks to those of y'all who have already signed this! It's cool to see that folks from many different areas of the state have contributed to this already. Hopefully a few more of y'all will sign it before pirate4state makes a copy of this to mail to Anthony's head football coach, Gary Rundell.

I'm sure the players and coaches in Anthony will enjoy reading this so thank y'all again who have already congratulated them on their great accomplishment of making the 3A playoffs. Hopefully many more will as well before it's sent out!

Good Luck Anthony, youdeserve it.

It reminds me of manyyears ago a far west Texas team that should have been playing 6 man football opted toplay 1A because they had no speed and only 12 boys. If someone got hurt and could still stand up had to play split and and take a break. The only extra was the water boy and he was like 85 pounds, but he had togo in once in awhile togive someone a break.I saw them dominate Bells and they made it to the final only to loose to South Lake Carroll, but it was no push over.

I love it when a little team and a major underdog makes a game of it.

Go get um!

The slate is all even right now.
