Carrie Underwood is performing, so I might catch part of it!

The Eagles are going to perform too. Usually a decent tv show but LONG!

Is Pushing Daisies all that? I have not seen much of it...

I'm not watching it, they chose to not even reconize the Hall of Fame inductees, but will have Rascal Flatts performing twice, it's just a show to push new artist, has nothing to do with country music anymore.

I prefer Texas Country/Red Dirt/Americana, whatever you want to call it to true country anyway! I like a little edge to it.

Wish RRB, REK, EYB, Bowen, CCR, Boland, Creager, & others were playing!

But I will watch Underwood & George Strait...

They're widely pointed to as an influence for many country bands/artists that have come along in the last 15-20 years....for what it's worth.

No, they were just boycotted by the people who were too close-minded to allow other people to speak their political beliefs publically. Now, before someone starts saying that they're celebrities and shouldn't use their fame for politics, look at Arnold and Ronald and get back to me, because they're two people who are endeared in American politics today.

There's a difference between having to hear about politics at a concert and having people in entertainment go into politics. Nothing irks me more than going to a concert and having to hear about politics and social issues.

all I can find is that it's "composer" is Bruce Robison. If RR was a co-writer I'm not aware of it.

By the way...Carrie Underwood is by far the best performance...and the best looking one too! :)

I met the manager of the eagles last summer. One of our lease hunters brought him out to our ranch to do a little fishin'. He gave us a cd signed by the eagles and everything. He is a really cool guy.

The only bad part of the cd was it was written in japanese, so i didnt know what song it was until i listened to it.:)

Ronald Reagan & Arnold filed for election and were ELECTED by the people well after their careers had peaked. The Chicks took advantage of people who paid good money to hear them SING and instead used it as a forum to spew their political beliefs.

If you wanna "get back to me", get back to me when Natalie Maines files for political office and is elected! I'm sure I'll be waiting for a long time.

Yes, and that is what made them so popular and well-known. If they ran when they were nobody then they would not have been elected. The people paid to hear them sing, true, but go to a Toby Keith concert and listen to his songs and after all of that and the Ford ads that are thrown in, you should be saying the same thing about them. As Emerson1 said before, if they would have been saying something that was popular in the eyes of the majority then this would have been a non-issue. It was never a matter of where it was said for most people, but instead [/i] what was said.

Disagree fellow Ag. Country music is traditionally very conservative, maybe not as much as before, but still very much leaning that way. Demographics say so too. They hurt themselves by voicing political opinions to their fans, etc. Just stupid, & I don't care what they believe. Their occupation is "performer/singer" not political activists. They took advantage of a public forum & made asses of themselves.

It hurt them in the long run. They have crossed over with some success, but they are forever haunted by it in country music. Many stations still refuse to play or promote their music.

Speak for yourself, esp. #2. Some like her, some don't. Big deal. Obviously a bunch like her b/c she won some award.

If I was harsh, then I apologize.

Great job Taylor Whoever.

and to get back to taylor swift.....she is a prime example of why commercial country sucks right now. for some reason people think that if you throw a banjo in on her music it automatically makes it country. her music should be played on pop stations not country. and yes she is ugly.

after throwing up 4 times last night the only positive things i have to say is thank god for george winning album of the year and not wanna be comedian joke teller brad paisley. also allison krause did a great job.....besides those two things it was garbage.

the worst part of the whole show had to be rascal flatss with jamie fox. the most horrible signing i've heard in a long long time ( although rascal flatss harmonies suck everytime, it was the worst ive heard on that song last night)

I only watched Carrie Underwood sing, and I thought she was great! I have been a fan since her American Idol days.

Different strokes for different folks, I guess!!

LOL...after reading this thread (the whole thing) I am wondering if it wasn't a full moon last night.

I was ticked that the CMA's were on ABC instead of Dirty, Sexy Money.

AMENNNN. Looks like everybody is arguing over different opinions and different tastes in music. I guess this just proves that you guys are self centered and don't care about other peoples opinion or their tastes in music. Must be a terrible way too live. Man relax and be glad that everybody does not have the same opinion. Quit fussing and have a good day.
