A new $479,080 scoreboard and video screen at Shotwell Stadium. The 40-foot-wide, 34-foot-tall mechanism sports a 14x24 high-definition video screen which displays, AISD messages and advertising, complete with sound.

It is an upgrade to the previous one. The other one was plagued with problems. Actually the first time it was used was during the Graham vs. Midland Greenwood game. Back around thanksgiving last year.

We loved it- the only complaint was our players kept getting distracted watching it during the pre-game warmup (coaches' gripes).

Actually, the Sweetwater scoreboard is fairly new. They got it before the 2001 or 2002 season. Now the one before that was a piece of junk. I remember it going out at a game or two.

Abilene ISD is suing the people that they bought the previous one from. They are trying to recoup $279,000 advertising dollars.
