This past Saturday (11-3-2007) the last play winning 40 yard field goal by Ryan Bailey over Oklahoma State to give UT the win 38 to 35 brings back memories such as the following:

10-17-1987 UT 16 Arkansas 14 as Bret Stafford throws a game winning 18 yard td pass to Tony Jones on the last play. Though hit hard in the end zone Jones hangs on and UT wins. Only the scoring team could score on points after tds back then so the extra point play was not run and the game ended.

10-21-1995 Phil Dawson kicks a 50 yard field goal into a stiff win to give UT a 17 to 16 win over Virginia.

9-21-1996 A tough loss as J. Sanson kicks a 39 yard field goal to give Notre Dame a 27 to 24 win over UT as time expired.

10-12-1996 Another tough loss in 1996 as Oklahoma beats UT in OT as James Allen scores on a 2 yard td run to beat UT 30 to 27. This is UT's only OT game in history so far.

10-30-1999 Kris Stockton kicks an 18 yard field goal to beat Iowa State on the last play 44 to 41.

1-1-2005 At the Rose Bowl UT beats Michigan as Dusty Mangum kicks a 37 yard field goal with the final being UT 38 Michigan 37.

Some (I am sure of more) that were near misses as far as the last play was concerned but worth remembering.

10-1-1994 Colorado beats UT 34-31 as Voskeritichian kicks the winning field goal with .01 second on the clock. Not the last play but very close.

10-19-2002 Not the last play but close. Dusty Mangum kicked a 27 yard field goal to give us a 17 - 14 lead over Kansas State University. KSU attemps a 36 yard field goal to tie the game to send it into OT. The kick is attemped by Jared Brite but it is blocked by DT Marcus Tubbs which saves the win for UT with .07 seconds left on the clock.

Please share some of your memories and correct me if I am wrong.

I've been in Texas for 25 years now. All the yankee has pretty
much left me. :D

I still root for my home state teams though. I actually used to
root for UT and Dallas until I started working at my current job.
All I hear around here is crap like UT and Dallas are good!:D
