Elgin seems to be freaked out by it so much they sit their TNT's 1 yard back and don't come until the see the ball in the RB's hands.

Have your defensive line recognize the fact that the offensive line is pass blocking when the QB is faking the handoff to the RB.

The D line has to recognize the screen and not go anywhere, if it seems they got through the line to easily, then they probably did. They have to find the lineman going out and the running back and wreck shop from there...

How do you know he is talking about a HB screen?

WR screen: If a team your facing does it alot put then in a close zone, like a cover 2 or 3 to that side, or slide a LB out to play the flat.

If you watch the QB he will tell you everything.

Also if anyone recognizes screen (or draw) they are supposed to yell it out so that everyone knows.

I didnt know that about the draw. Usually by the time they yell screen your already looking at the back of the RB or WR's jersey.

Does not work that way. You throw a bubble screen when they are laying off. It is usually called when they are not in a position to intervene. HB screen has to be read by the Mike LB because he is responsible for the run in the middle and has to read the back releasing and pursue inside out depending on the Corner on that side to be outside contain. Safety has to read it as well and it helps if the DE is quick enough to read and slide with the RB. Last but not least the OLB on that side should read the lineman sliding to his side and stay in front of the play.

Yelling does not put people in position. If you are yelling it means you have already been fooled and are looking for help.

If its a well run screen, usually the DE on the flow side of the play gets too far commited to get back to the RB. As soon as the DE recognizes, he should stop his rush and try to get into the passing lane to disrupt the pass. It has to be a short low pass by design, so just simply getting in the lane can at least disrupt it enough to allow a LB to recover and get into the play, if he's paying attention.

The screen pass can sometimes be very effective against the blitz.

Thats y if you watch the frickin QB you can jump it. Usually you cant stop the bubble pass, its too quick. But if your a corner you can tell if they have 2 wr real close and one stays home to block that its coming your way.

On a bubble or quick screen to the edge the best way to defend it is to have the play side CB beat that block...if he recognizes the block from the inside reciever then he can beat the guy to the spot and mess stuff up...he doesn't need to make a play just disrupt long enough to allow the play side LB and safety to finish the job.....of course if he makes the play its a bonus...that play to me seems to be designed to get a block or two and then you can spring it so if you defeat that block you can make a play...

the traditional screen to the HB is all about recognition, if your LB's and DE's recognize the screen and don't get up field to quick its usually a play that can be stopped..if you pin your ears back and rush with no abandon it can go for big yards...

When DLineman feel they are getting through too easy and QB is back pedaling they need to flip their hips and retrace their steps and look for the ball....

there are so many screens nowadays....RB screens (in flats and middle screens), jailbreak screens to WR's, bubble screens to WR's....

or they keep blitzing the linebackers regularly and need some breathing room
