I put this together for another site but thought some might be interested in seeing it over here... I'm missing a few games from the 1981 (Cameron), 1982 (Refugio) and 1984 (Medina Valley) championship seasons but those are the only ones that are missing from the past 27 seasons.

Among these you will find the game-by-game records of some of the all-time best including....

...the season which holds the 3A record for most points scored in a full season
...the season which holds the 3A record for fewest points allowed in a full season
...the first program to win 4 consecutive 11-man state titles in UIL history
...the first 16-win season in UIL history
...6 of Cuero's 10 state championship appearances

I have a question for the 1987 Gobbler team.. How is it that the pre-district game against Beeville Jones that they had 1 point against the Gobblers. What's the 1 point play?

Makes you wonder... what happened to Commerce and Sealy?
Never hear about them now.

i remember when sealy was winning people always said that they were getting houston defects to help them win

Man, I thought Sealy's defense was dominating during the 4-peat, but look at Daingerfield. Only 8 points given up all season? And SLC scored over 800? WOW! I would have loved to get a chance to see those teams in action.

YoemenKracker,
I recall only one player who transferred from a Houston school. I think his name was Davis and he was a part time defensive lineman. We had two other move ins from East Bernard, Lechler and Allison, but as best I can remember, the rest were home grown. As those who followed the Tigers during those years, we played many teams who put more talent on the field. It was just a great mix of kids who played very hard whistle to gun and a great group of coaches. I don't think I will live long enough to see the stars align like that again.

sealy was cuero's kryptonite, we couldn't get past them and after losing to slc in the finals we thought a title would soon follow but thanks to sealy we were denied

All the bulletin board material generated by Cuero fans boasting about how they were going to win state every year helped motivate the Sealy kids (and coaches, too, I think). All the way back to the Robert Strait era, Sealy somehow managed to overcome Cuero until the streak was broken by that bizarre blocked extra point play in Sealy. After that, the Gooblers pretty much had their way with Sealy until they stopped playing a few years ago. Cuero was one of the very few programs that really tested those Tiger teams during the '94 - '97 era. Looks like Sealy may be getting competitive again under the Mitchell regime.
