Hey guys/gals...check it out. As of late...my back has been KILLING me, and now it's become most of my body. The back thing I'm almost certain I know what the deal is. About a year and a half ago I had a pretty hairy ATV accident where I separated my sholder pretty good. I'm beginning to think I may have compressed a disk in my back too. I can sit in the floor for 15 mins and when I stand up the pain is so intense and my back is so tight I literally can't stand up straight and have to stretch out before I can do so...thoughts? But here lately I'm just sore all over...hamstrings are always VERY tight in the evenings, calves lock up too. I find myself having to use a heating pad on my back nightly and my legs get so tight I'm scared I'm gonna pull something. The kicker is, I'm only 30 yrs old and when I get up in the mornings, 9 times outa 10 I gotta ease out of bed I'm so sore. WHAT GIVES? HELP!!

I recommend you see an orthopedic specialist before any chiropractic visit...especially with the history of the ATV shoulder injury. The symptoms you describe can be something very minor...to possible spinal disc injury.

With possible disc involvement, you don't want chiropractic manipulation before you have a clear diagnosis. It's too big a risk. Please don't bash me for that statement. There is a place in medical care for chiropractic medicine...as a component of recovery, once a diagnosis has been made and treatment decided.

Are you near Corpus Christi? Check with Spohn Hospital to see if they have a Sports Injury Clinic. Many of the larger orthopedic practices and/or hospitals now have them...some with Saturday Clinics. If not, a good orthopedist will get you going in the right direction.

The problem with disc injuries is the longer you put off being checked, the worse the complications can be. For example, with disc injuries...what now may be a "slipped" or bulging disc that can be corrected with medication and physical therapy can rupture and require surgery.

Get seen soon so you can feel better.

No, chiropractor is a bad idea. About 6 years ago my dad had a slipped disc in his lower back and he had the same symptoms. Ended up having surgery, still gives him hell sometimes..... A little note to everyone out there, use your legs when you lift things. Find some type of specialist and I hope it works out for you.

Dont go to a chiropractor. Can make it worse. Go to specialist, get an MRI and go from there. Where are you? This is where I went and I'm glad I did...

North Texas Spine Center at Baylor (http://www.ntspinecare.com/)

Dr. Callewart worked on me and did wonders!
