several good choices...
obviously, from reading all the c rap on here Giddings/Caldwell is the only game worth going to... I was thinking of heading to the rig and watch tgotw Columbia/Needville... but I have heard rumor that there is a place called Luna's in Friendswood that has the best margaritas so I am going to see for myself and watch a 4A game between Angleton and Friendswood

I just hope Navasota vs. Smithville doesn't end up like Hearne or Clevland...I doubt it will since those games were at the beginning of the season, and Navasota has won a couple more great games since then...But still.

Well this is what the media says;

Pirates hoping to right ship against Tarpons
Hidalgo, coming off a loss to Rio Hondo, takes aim at tradition-rich PI
Peter Rasmussen | The Monitor

Oct 26, 2007 12:48 am

HIDALGO — The Hidalgo Pirates surged into their game with Rio Hondo last week. They had hoped a stingy defense and a high-powered offense would carry them into and through Bobcat Stadium.

But instead the Pirates were left to ponder a damaging District 32-3A loss. They will have to quickly dust themselves off because they play host to another Class 3A powerhouse tonight, Port Isabel.

“In athletics you have to stay focused,” Pirates coach Jorge Peña said. “You have to have a short memory and get ready for your next opponent.”

No. 10 Port Isabel arrives in Hidalgo at 7:30 tonight for a district showdown.

A Tarpons (5-2 overall, 2-0 district) win and they will clinch a playoff spot for the 29th time in 34 years, setting up a match of league unbeatens next week with Rio Hondo.

“This is a big game for us because a win could get us in the playoffs,” Tarpons coach Monty Stumbaugh said. “This game is important for Hidalgo too because they are fighting to get in the playoffs.

“This is going to be one heck of a ball game. Both teams are going to go after it with a lot on the line.”

The Pirates (5-2, 0-1) are looking to avoid slipping further behind in the postseason hunt.
A loss wouldn’t eliminate Hidalgo from the playoffs but it would need a lot of help, especially if La Feria earns a win against Progreso tonight.

“You try and not focus on that,” Peña said. “You just have to go out there and execute.”

The Pirates have had little trouble executing on defense this season. The defense, which yields only 159.6 yards per game, has been stellar for the most part this season, even giving powerhouse Rio Hondo fits in Week 7.

“They have a really good defense,” Stumbaugh said. “They have a really good defensive front that is physical. I think this is the best defense they have had since coach Peña has been there.”

The Pirates’ ‘D’ will have to find some way to slow the district’s leading running back Nolan Nuñez, who has been on a roll of late. Nuñez (90 carries for 1,142 yards, 18 TDs) has surged his way past the 1,000-yard rushing mark, notching 10 TDs in the last three games.

“(Nuñez) is a very patient runner,” Peña said.

“He has very good speed. He knows how to use the blocks in front of him. From what I have seen, I have never seen him get caught from behind.”

The Pirates have their own playmaker in quarterback Oscar Perez (949 yards rushing, 703 yards passing), who struggled against Rio Hondo. Perez had only 42 yards rushing against the Bobcats, his lowest output of the season.

“The best thing we can try to do is contain him,” Stumbaugh said. “He is going to get his yardage, we just have to keep from getting those big plays on us because he can accelerate and has good vision.”

Peter Rasmussen covers District 32-3A for The Monitor. You can reach him at (956) 683-4448.

Luna's has a place in Baytown as well (i think it started here, not sure?) and I can tell you from many experiences they have great food...I actually never had the margaritas there since the last time i went there I was in highschool but now I will need to try that out to see if they are really that good....but anyway all through highschool me and my friends ate there (less than a mile from the highschool) and it was always great food! enjoy!

and I am going to the Atascocita vs. Baytown Sterling game (5a), its our homecoming game tonight, maybe we will finally win one!

Since I'm in Tucumcari, NM tonight, I will be listening to Caldwell/Giddings on kmil.com. Luckily, this RV park has fairly decent wifi.

I've been doing without for the last 2 weeks, as I've been in Albuquerque, NM and Flagstaff, AZ without internet. Be home Sunday!
