I don't know about your workplace, but in mine, my schedule is set Friday at Noon. If on saturday i get a phone call, i will say no to whatever request, because friday at 12:01, i'm already making plans

HAVE to? I didn't think they could make you change shifts on one day's notice...are you sure they didn't ASK you and you said ok???

Once a schedule is posted it cannot be amended legally without both the employee and a supervisor initialing any changes. So until that takes place it is not something you can be held accoutable for....atleast you cant be reprimanded for it. But you did give your boss your word on it, so they cant technically fire you, but they can find other reasons. Knowing you that shouldnt be too hard either. I say do what you agreed to do, and keep your word. Thats just me though.
