Clyde is legit in my book. If they win out and get the #1 seed in D2 they'll be pretty tough to stop. This game was a HUGE win for the Bulldogs.

Clyde is a good team but they beat just beat a sweetwater team we dont know about yet. The SW tema I saw didnt look great. This whole district is good football.

Why is a Sweetwater a question? Until tonight their only losses was to a 5A school and a Top 10 4A school. They averaged about 40 points in those 5 wins. I know those 5 were not great teams but they totally dominated.

Give Clyde credit. This was a big win against a team that has put up some big offensive numbers lately.

I'm just picking at you guys. I know Sweetwater is much better than they were back then. Teams can suddenly gel and take it to another level. I think Sweetwater did that about the time they played Decatur. Vernon did that last year about week 13. Anybody remember that?

Wow what a defensive game. Swater fumbled 6 times and one 1 punt blocked. Clyde fumbled twice, and would have thrown 2 int's if the Swater DBs could catch a ball right in their hands. Neither offense could get anything going. This game was decided by feild position, and that was determined by turnovers. Clyde just got one too many chances on a short field, and finally capitalized with just a couple minutes left in the game. Clydes two scoring drives combined were a grand total of 7 yards. 2 on their first one, and 5 on their last one. Swaters one lone scoring drive was 60+ yards, but most of that was got on 2 playes.
If either O had any type of decent passing game it would have certainly made difference. Neither D had to respect the passing game, so both were just stacking and attacking the line of scrimmage. If either of these teams expects to go very far in the playoffs, they had better develope a passing game. Eventually they will face an offense that is well balance enough to make the D play honest, and they will give up some points.
But if you like great defensive games, this was one to see. If offense is your thing, this was not the game for you.

Huge Thanks to Pero Chato and Lakers for sending me updates on this game. Congrats to Clyde. Has to be the biggest win for their program since they beat Wylie a few years back. Hope my Mustangs can overcome this - Gotta learn how to hold onto the ball.

Will be a tough three weeks. If Sweetwater loses to Clyde, we go to Breckenridge for a MUST win game.

If I would you, I would be more concerned about making the playoffs, not the Tigers (the best 5-2 team in the state), who will be in the playoffs.

And O BTW, no doubt Vernon was good last year. No doubt at all. Played us a tough hard hitting game. In the end we had the better team. But they were class and heart all the way.

Sweetwater might not even make the playoffs. We will have to wait and see and I won't take Breckenridge so lightly.

We never got credit for those "big offensive numbers". Oh and my input on the game since ive been gone all weekend; congrats to clyde they played lights out D, but so did sweetwater, the downfall in this game was the turnovers for sweetwater and that our offensive line got owned like they were JV. Good D to both teams. Sweetwater just couldnt get their backs off the goaline....

And another thing is the Clyde announcer was REDICULOUS, he was so immature, I thought it was a Clyde student announcing...He would yell to the top of his lungs over the mic. and it wasnt quiet, I could have heard it from the interstate...And when Sweetwater got a 1st down he would be dead silent...and when Clyde got a 1st he would say, "and that is a Clyde", and the crowd would finish it in saying "FIRST DOWN!" I thought it was so immature...talking about kicking someone when they were down, thats what he was doing, because nothing was going our way.... It was pathetic.

I must say, I have worn all my Mustang RED stuff to Snyder and Wylie many times and have never had anyone act rude to me at either place. We may exchange a comment or two all in fun but thats about it. Usually we end up talking a little football and other things, but it never gets the least bit heated. I usually find that you can certainly find trouble just about anywhere if you go looking for it. I just dont go looking for it. And I dont expect to get any in return. All the clyde folks I have met seem to be great people as well. But I'm sure thay have their fair share of turds just like the rest of us as well.

Think about it guys, Clyde has been losing for years always being someone else's throw away game. Glimpses from time to time but I bet this announcer guy is like that becuase their team has never been good enouhg to be the focal point of going to the game on Friday night. This year is one of those glimpses and who knows maybe though win at least one playoff game this year (doubt it) but that announcer's life is going to be made if it does happen. I for you dont mind it and think it is neat how the crowd gets into it.

Yeah, I wasn't saying ALOT of people from sweetwater are rude, mustang04 and I were just having fun last night.

But I was walking out of wal-mart with my grandma and this old man just gets up and said, What in the H are you in sweetwater for? I said with my grandma, then he said, well just know your welcome to get the **** out of here!! Them snyder people.

I was just laughing my A off, it was pretty funny.

Was a great game . I was suprised at the turnovers. very evenly matched teams. Home team won. I think that was the only advantage. Clyde D was in the Sweetwater backfield alot.

I think it is all about perspective..... when I was in HS- which was longer ago than I care to remember- I was probably WAY more sensitive to that sort of thing. And if someone wanted to say something about my home team, I would have been the first one to want to talk smack! But now I am always wearing a Steers shirt on Tuesdays and Fridays. I travel to Abilene quite a bit on Fridays for different things before game time. I don't notice people staring at me or glaring at me or giving me dirty looks (which they probably are, just because of the area I am in). Now, the age I am- I really don't care. And if someone came up and told me to get out of their town, I would definitely have to laugh at that one.......
Grow up guys- you will always come in to contact with folks at school, work, wherever that don't like you for whatever reason and you have to learn to just 'get over it'. Laugh and go on..... DON'T MAKE IT PERSONAL!!!!
By the way, the announcer at Clyde drives me crazy, too!!!!

Agreed! Let them enjoy the succes while it lasts. I thought the announcer was kinda funny myself. Yes it was inappropriate, but Clyde is intitled to a little celebration now after so many years of being a celler dweller. Let them have their fun.:clap:

i remember when merkel FINALLY made it to the playoffs after i dont know how many decades, then they beat greenwood, this was my senior year...man-o-live they went CRAZY like they just won state 5 times over haha, but i was happy to see that they were just absorbing it all in....sometimes things like that are bigger than a state championship to other teams:)

I went to the play-off game in San Angelo. When time ran out
a kid ran past me shouting "It's a miracle! It's a miracle!".:D

I was truly happy for Merkel.:)

And I remember when Stapler got things turned around in Sweetwater in the early 80s. We all acted the same way as I recall. Man was that fun!

If your from Clyde...... which is fine. Has anybody been to Glen Rose? During the 8th grade game there I felt like I was in the middle of a soap opera- he had one of those voices, very wispery, soft- kinda creepy in a way.
