Region III is by far the deepest. After that I'd say Region II (The DII bracket is pretty weak, but the D1 bracket is ridiculous.) and then it's a toss-up between the other two regions.

I know polls are very opinionated but since these people @ Dave Campbells Tx football magazine do this for a living I thing it has some validaty. Region 1 seems have twice as many representatives in the top 25 than Region 2. Can't see this being the weakest region.

I believe Wylie won state in '04. That only three seasons ago and Midland Greenwood was not to long ago either.

no different than the BCS
just remain unbeaten
but when you start dist people lose
move down in the poll
at least the playoffs decide it
unlike the BCS
someone from each region will win the region
thats the way it is

disagree -- all this says is that five of the top ten schools are in Region III ........... says nothing about which region is the toughest. in order to do that you need to look at the entire region, not the best 1-2-3-4-5 teams

i'm not saying R-III is not the toughest, but basing that solely on the state top 10 is, uh, haphazard

also, whether or not a region is represented in the state title game does little to determine the best region .... all that shows is that they were better than their semifinal opponent

Then you should take it up with DCTF or www.texasfootball.com, since WC isn't listed in their top 25. :)

Here, I am seldom wrong:

Region 3 is the toughest end of story. Region 1 is not all that tough at all, now this is not to say that the stated contender can't come out of region 1 or even somewhere other than region 3. What it says is that the road to state is tougher in region 3. It is very possible to fight all the way through region 3 and have had 3 extremely competitive football games bang you up and lose to a lesser team and not make it to the state game. I am not saying this has or will happen, I am just helping to explain the definition of tougher region in this discussion.

ANY QUESTIONS?

Wouldn't argue against Reg III being the toughest journey to get to the State semifinals. Some of that has to do with sheer #'s:

Reg I - 35 teams
Reg II - 49 teams
Reg III - 51 teams
Reg IV - 39 teams

Throw 12 more teams into Reg IV or 16 more teams into Reg I and it's a lot tougher journey than it is now.

Nevertheless, those are 5 good teams ranked in the top 10.

I guess you could argue that Reg 2 is the toughest since 3 of the Top 5 schools in AP poll are from that region?

10-16-2007, 05:22 PM
yes you can spin the #s any way you want .....

throw in Diboll who is in III, they are knocking on the door in the polls behind Caldwell. True test for them will come against Crockett and Carthage.

I told you guys/gals that I am seldom wrong, yet you keep arguing.

To the point that said something about 2 teams int he top five making that region tough vs. the 5 in the top 10. Think about it people, with 2 teams in the top five, there is only a chance of you playing that other team in one game on the way to the semi-finals(may or may not happen). When there are 5 in the top ten then you are almost guaranteed or atleast at much more likely chance you will run into 2 or 3 of them on your way to the semi-finals. IS THIS REALLY THIS HARD.

Honestly, I wouldn't complain about it if I were ya'll other region guys/gals. Honestly I know on some level even while you type on this thread, you are telling yourself, "man I am glad we are in this region instead of region 3". I can't blame you, quite frankly I wish giddings were in a different region sometimes, then I remember how much more fun it is to say we are in the toughest region, and it makes it seem more gratifying along the way. SORRY!
