FORFEIT PICK

Old Tiger
10-14-2007, 07:10 PM
Miami has Ronnie Brown

Minnesota has Tavaris Jackson who is a second year guy

Dallas' second pick Bowman really doesn't impress me much at all.

I don't think the cowboys would take a corner over Kenny Phillips right now with Jacque Reeves coming into his own

Hills and Booty as 1st rounders...LOL

I think Dorsey goes before 6 and Dallas gets a good inside linebacker before they get a corner.

Where's this from and how recent is it? Jasper Brinkley's season was ended a few weeks ago. He was a mid- to late-first-rounder back then, so he'd definitely slip into the second round if he came out. Only problem is that the chances of him coming out aren't too great right now.

If I remember correctly, the NCAA approved a medical redshirt after Brinkley told Steve Spurrier he wanted to come back one more year.

Glenn Dorsey's being looked at as the best pure football prospect in the nation right now, the best DT prospect since Warren Sapp. He's just dominating people, but the fact that he doesn't play a "money" position will slide him back a little in the draft.

Also, JD Booty is not even close to being a first-round prospect, while Matt Ryan is neck-and-neck with Woodson and Brohm in the race for top QB prospect.

Other things:
-Quentin Groves will go much higher than that if he times what they think he'll time at the combine (runs a 4.5). He's already top-15 on almost every draft board out there, top-ten on some.

-Early Doucet and Adarius Bowman are better pro prospects than Malcolm Kelly.

-Jonathan Stewart's a tough prospect to place. Some think he'll wind up going in the second, some think he'll wind up going in the early teens. I've only seen two of his games and a highlight reel on YouTube, but if he goes to a team that can uses his ability as a cutback runner (cough* Texans *cough), he'll wind up being a better back than McFadden.

PS: This isn't a dig at you, Buccaneer. Not trying to shoot the messenger here.

This is draft from Fantasy Football Toolbox. I ran across it just to check where Cleveland's first pick was.

http://www.fftoolbox.com/nfl_draft/2008/2008_nfl_mock_draft.cfm

It has already changed since I first posted it.

OAK Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
The Raiders addressed QB this year, so in 2008 it will be a running back in this ongoing offensive overhaul. McFadden disappointed in his first two games this season despite Arkansas' crushing shootout loss to Alabama.

ATL Brian Brohm , QB, Louisville
Atlanta has to be wishing right now that it had Matt Schaub to replace Michael Vick, but it doesn't, so coach Bobby Petrino will not be able to pass up taking the quarterback he coached at Louisville, Brian Brohm
.
NYG Steve Slaton, RB, West Virginia
The Giants have all kinds of problems on offense--and everywhere else--and there doesn't seem to be any heir apparent to Tiki Barber on the roster right now. Slaton is already lighting it up at West Virginia again, so he should be on New York's radar screen.

KC Jake Long, OT, Michigan
Kansas City could have the skill position pieces in place, although we won't know until we see a solid offensive line in front of them. Long, who is by far the best lineman in this class, would do wonders for the Chiefs.

BUF Calais Campbell, DE, Miami (FL)
The Bills went offense in the 2007 draft when they took RB Marshawn Lynch, so now it's time to address a mediocre defense. At 6-8, Campbell is a massive DE who would give the Bills a much-needed pass rush.

DAL Sam Baker, OT, USC
The Browns surrendered this pick in the Brady Quinn deal thinking they'll be good this season and therefore won't have an early pick. Wrong. Dallas has long been searching for offensive line help and Baker would be just that.

ARI Glenn Dorsey, DT , LSU
Arizona is set on offense, but the defense needs help and it should start in the middle of the line. Dorsey is currently anchoring an LSU defense that is the scariest unit in the nation, and he would be a great value pick here at No. 7.

MIA Frank Okam, DT, Texas
Okam is a beast in the middle and would have been a high draft pick this year had he declared. The Dolphins were thought to be looking at DT help this year, but instead took WR Ted Ginn Jr. Miami shouldn't have any more surprises up its sleeve if Okam is available here.

STL DeSean Jackson, WR, California
Jackson definitely could be gone at this point, but if not, the Rams would be crazy to pass him up. He's he best wide receiver in this draft and Isaac Bruce, though seemingly ageless, is getting old.

DET Derrick Harvey, DE, Florida
The Lions were looking at DE Gaines Adams this year but smartly refused to pass up WR Calvin Johnson, so the need still remains with defense. At this point Harvey is the most explosive player on that side of the ball.

NO Kenny Phillips, S, Miami (FL)
It was no secret coming into the season that the Saints were lacking in the secondary, and after two games that's more obvious than ever. Phillips is the best safety in the college business right now and would be a welcomed addition in New Orleans.

JAX Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
Byron Leftwich is gone and David Garrard is still unproven through two games, so the Jaguars need a QB of the future. Ryan has been outstanding so far this season and vaulted himself into the Heisman discussion.

TB Chad Henne, QB, Michigan
Sure Michigan is 1-2 at this point, but Henne still has an amazing arm that scouts love, so he's still projected to be a great pro. The Bucs are desperate for a future star at quarterback.

WAS Dan Connor, LB, Penn State
Washington has acquired a solid secondary in recent years and now needs a youth movement at linebacker. Connor is a versatile, speedy player who can play insider or outside.

MIN Lawrence Jackson, DE, USC
Jackson has been an impact player all three years at USC and he'll be an All-American candidate this season. The Vikings had a wretched pass defense in 2006 and it all starts up front with pressure on the quarterback.

CAR Sedrick Ellis, DT, USC
Ellis, an All-American, is a bit undersized but that won't stop him from having a major impact at the next level. The Panthers need to get younger and healthier on the defensive line, so this pick would make sense.

Buccaneer
10-15-2007, 06:36 AM
CIN Aqib Talib, CB, Kansas
Look no further than the Bengals' Week 2 defensive stinkbomb against Cleveland know what they need to address. Talib has good size and athleticism and could be a future star at cornerback.

HOU Barry Richardson, OT, Clemson
Houston's offense has been rolling along quite nicely so far with Matt Schaub, but it would be even better with a good offensive line. Richardson is a massive presence there at 6-7, 320 pounds.

NE Chris Long, DE, Virginia
A versatile defensive lineman, Long had a great junior year at UVA and should do even more in his last hurrah there. He's the kind of player the Patriots love, and it's pretty obvious that they don't need much help on offense. Then again, they don't on defense either.

TEN Early Doucet, WR, LSU
Vince Young has been very good in Tennessee so far, but he could be great with some weapons at his disposal. Doucet, LSU's offensive star, would be a welcomed addition.

NYJ Ray Maualuga, LB, USC
The Jets got their corner in this year's draft and now have to look elsewhere on defense. Maualuga has been a star at USC his first two years there and with a big 2007 campaign as part of an incredible Trojan LB corps, he should enter the draft early.

PHI Keith Rivers, OLB, USC
The Eagles have needed youth and depth at the linebacker position for a while now. Rivers led USC in tackles last season and will be able to make an instant impact.

GB Antoine Cason, CB, Arizona
The Packers are only getting older at cornerback and they must address that next year. Talib has good size and athleticism and could be a star.

DEN James Laurinaitis, LB, Ohio State
Although their defense is solid, the Broncos could address a number of areas there. Laurinaitis is your typical hard-nosed Buckeye linebacker and is too good for New Orleans to pass up here.

DAL Dwight Lowery, CB, San Jose State
Lowery plays at San Jose State, but you can bet NFL teams know about him after he brought down nine interceptions in 2006. He has good size (6-1, 188 pounds) and great speed and Dallas could use some depth in the secondary.

SEA Tyson Jackson, DE, LSU
At the very least Seattle needs depth on the defensive line, and Jackson has the size (6-5) and speed to be a flat-out star. If he steals the spotlight in a crowded and talented LSU defense this season, he should go even higher.

BAL Mario Urrutia, WR, Louisville
Urrutia has enjoyed two solid seasons at Louisville and should really take off later this year with Brian Brohm still around. At 6-6, 220 pounds, Urrutia is an offensive weapon that the Ravens desperately need.

PIT Ray Rice, RB, Rutgers
Rice is too good to pass up this late in the first round, and the Steelers could use an insurance policy and/or a different style running back to go along with Willie Parker.

SD DeJuan Tribble, CB, Boston College
This pick makes perfect sense, as the Chargers need help in the secondary and Tribble has been absolutely on fire since the start of his junior year at Boston College. He's only 5-9, but he is arguably the best cover corner in the nation.

SF Limas Sweed, WR, Texas
QB Alex Smith needs some weapons if the offense is to stop being Frank Gore's one-man show. Sweed has speed and hands and would be a great fit in San Francisco.

CHI Jasper Brinkley, LB, South Carolina
Brinkley was All-SEC as a Junior and he will be one of the best linebackers in the country this year. The Bears will need some help there as Lance Briggs will certainly be gone.

Yes. He's Top 5 or Top 10... He IS that good.

After reading the mock draft... i still think he is a first rounder... i would put him above Henne...

Without a doubt. He's the best player in the nation right now... well, this side of Glenn Dorsey.

The biggest questions surrounding him were his ability to make his reads against better defenses and his ability to elevate the play of the team around him. He's proven both by now.

I'd be willing to bet that he's the number one overall pick when it's all said and done.
